I

t is such a tragic loss to have lost Joe Valentine to cancer. But today he is in a much better place with no more suffering and pain. We are happy for Joe, but very saddened by our loss, for we lost a Texas Longhorn Industry Leader, a Legend, a Icon and a friend. Joe had owned Longhorns for over 40 years and at one time he had a herd of over 1200 head. Joe was a member of the TLBAA, the ITLA, and a founding member of the TLMA. It was Joe’s desire for his wife Lorinda to sell the Longhorn herd, liquidate and move back home to Texas to be with her family. So she is following his wishes and doing exactly what he wanted her to do.

This entire herd will sell at absolute auction with no reserves. This means 100% of the animals in the catalog will go home to new owners, regardless of price.

The Panther Creek herd consist of many great producing cows. We all know that the collectors are always in high demand, but a breeder that has been around as long as Joe realized the real valuable ones are the producers that produce the ones people want to collect. You will find many great producing Longhorn cows that will add great value to your program. You will also find 17 JP Rio Grande daughters available in this herd dispersal, plus several JP Rio Grande calves at side. We think that this is the most ever offered at any one public auction.

You will honor Joe and help continue his legacy by attending this sale and buying one of his cows. There are 110 lots in the sale, and nothing would please us more than to see them go to many different breeders all wanting to show their respects and to honor a friend that was so important to the Longhorn Industry.

We apologize for having to establish a date so quickly, but we had very few options. We didn’t mean to step on anyone else’s Longhorn event that was planned on the same date, we simply had to go with September 27th.
