here are a lot of Texans, including many of our readers, who have second homes in fabulous locations. (Some in the Bahamas.) If you want to join them and are looking for an escape hatch from your daily living, check out The Abaco Club (pronounced ab-uh-ko) on Winding Bay.
As of the time of our visit, 90 home sites are built with 46 homes under the rental program. Buyers can build on a 1.5-acre lot or purchase one of the estate homes currently for sale.

To get there, you can fly to Atlanta, Miami or Fort Lauderdale and then take a smaller airline, like Silver Airways, to Marsh Harbour (MH). Abaco is the second largest island in the Bahamas, and The Abaco Club is 25 minutes from the MH airport. Tip: If you need to go to the market or get other items, make sure you do that near the airport so you don’t have to go back to that area.
When we visited, there was a six-bedroom/ six-bath 5,834 square foot estate home on the market for $8.75 million. We are talking Caribbean beachfront bliss here.
