TEXAS BULLS STRONG COMMERCIAL INFLUENCE IN NORTHERN QLD & AUSTRALIA WIDE
Texas Angus was first established in Queensland in 1936 and has been selling bulls throughout the state and Australia wide for over 88 years. The influence of Texas Genetics has grown substantially over the last 10 years as we’ve increased our bull numbers to meet demand.
Clients are returning for Texas Bulls purely for survivability, fertility and profitability. Pastoralists are recording REAL performance with excellent weight gains, allowing QLD western pastoralists early turn offs. It’s great to hear from clients that their weight gains have significantly jumped, hitting market specs and their TEX bulls are surviving.
Our bulls are grown out on sub tropical pastured through the summer months and finished on oats and NOT thrown into a feedlot for a quick sale prep on a high grain ration. Our hot humid summers provides an ideal environment for out bulls to climatise for Northern environment. These photos are of Texas progeny around Cloncurry, Mt Isa & McKinlay.
Another great example of how well Texas bulls are surviving and thriving in Australia’s harsh conditions is at Tieyon Station, South of Alice Springs NT. Andrew Smith sent us this photo of Texas GPS M104 (K2 & M100’S full brother) who is still going strong at 8+ years old thriving in some of the driest climatic conditions in central Australia weighing a hefty 920kgs.
Other clients such as the Miles family who reside in the heart of Bos Indicus tick Country west of Rockhampton, are producing these magnificent Droughtmaster x Angus calves. Doug purchased his first Angus bulls from Texas at the 2021 Bull Sale and he couldn’t be happier with the Droughtmaster Angus cross calves he’s bred since then. Doug’s results have been phenomenal with 5-6 month old calves weighing in at 300kgs! (3 photos of his X bred calves)
