We were absolutely thrilled to win the highly coveted Class 40 - 100 Day HGP Free at the 2025 RNA Paddock to Palate Competition. It was the largest class in the history of the event, and with just one pen entered — after our second pen was eliminated for being too heavy — to come out on top against the very best in the industry and take home the prestigious Arthur and Kath Bassingthwaighte AO Trophy was truly unforgettable.

Sharing such a special night to celebrate with our children Rosie, Will, and Lachie - and with Marcos, Hughie, and Tex by our side. While the accolades are rewarding, the real value lies in the data and benchmarking against all breeds and crosses - the toughest competition in the country. For over a decade, we’ve submitted this carcase data into Angus Australia’s database, and today our EBVs reflect the true, proven performance of our cattle.
Perhaps our proudest achievement at the RNA is the consistency we’ve shown over the last five years (see table). To repeatedly record the highest and second-highest marbling scores in the competion - and to consistently place 1st or 2nd overall - proves our program is not only delivering on quality but also hitting market specifications that drive profitability across every sector of the beef industry.

It was our first time participating in the 2025 Bindaree / Colin Say Feedlot Trial & Carcase Competition, and we were thrilled to place 2nd and 3rd overall in the Angus Heifer and Steer Teams (120 days on feed) categories, respectively.
We came so close to taking out the highest daily weight in the entire competition with one of our steers missing the gong by 0.01kg/day placing 2nd behind the Overall Champion.

Our homebred heifer recorded the highest EMA for all heifers and was equal highest EMA across the entire competition of 360 entries (steers & heifers) from all breeds and crosses and she marbled 5! This was a phenomenal result, and our steers did a clean sweep in the daily weights for the Angus section and also marbled up to 5!
Here are some of the key highlights:
Highest EMA for a young heifer across all breeds and crosses (@96cm + marbled 5) - a full 6cm larger than any other heifer in the competition!
Equal highest EMA overall (matching a steer, with 360 entries in total)
2nd highest daily weight gain across all 360 entries, missing the champion by just 0.01kg/day
Won the weight section of Individual and pen for Angus steers with steers marbling up to 5
Placed 2nd & 3rd Overall for Steer and Heifer Pens

Entering commercially relevant competitions like these provide us a valuable opportunity to benchmark against not only Angus but also a wide range of other breeds and crosses, which reinforces that our breeding program remains commercially relevant and profitable for all sectors of the industry!
