Rise’ Martin, DDS, Chairman, ADA Committee on Local Arrangements Have you been thinking of attending the ADA annual meeting this year? If not, I hope you will consider taking advantage of a great member benefit and join many of your colleagues. The ADA annual meeting is a wonderful opportunity to invest in the most important element of your practice: yourself. It’s a way to reconnect with classmates around the country in a fun and educational environment. Dentists and their teams work hard during the year to provide a high level of dental care to patients. Taking time off to attend the ADA meeting can reenergize everyone and build a stronger team. I invite you to register for this year’s ADA annual meeting and market place exhibition to be held October 9-14 in beautiful San Antonio. You’ll find more than 260 continuing education courses (half of which have no fee) to choose from over the 4-day meeting including more than 60 hands-on workshops, live patient courses, and cadaver courses given by some of the top clinicians in the country. The meeting will also have an expanded exhibit hall, which will showcase more than 600 suppliers of dental products and services. To register and take advantage of ADA discount offers on hotels, flights and rental cars visit ada.org/meeting. I am honored to be the local arrangements chairman of the meeting this year and will work tirelessly with the entire Council on ADA Sessions, Committee on Local Arrangements (CLA), and our excellent ADA staff members to make sure this year’s meeting is one of the best ever. The CLA provides an invaluable resource to the ADA by recruiting volunteers to assist with the annual meeting. The CLA chair and subcommittee co-chairs are local dental leaders. The success of the ADA annual meeting depends on the dedication of an outstanding group of volunteers—people just like you! Join us and be part of an esteemed group of dental professionals who come together each year to make the ADA annual meeting a success! If you have any questions about volunteering for ADA 2014, please contact TDA Meetings Associate Donna Musselman at donna@tda.org or 512-443-3675. I look forward to seeing everyone again in beautiful and historic San Antonio!

The American Dental Association (ADA) will host a Mission of Mercy (MOM), a free dental clinic, in San Antonio on Sunday, October 12, 2014, from 5:30 AM to 5:30 PM to treat local residents without access to care. Stay through Sunday and join your colleagues from across the nation in bringing free dental care to San Antonio. Contribute your unique talents to help make this program a success. Visit this link to volunteer: tinyurl.com/ADAMOM. Please note: Feel free to share this information with potential volunteers, but please do not post it or share in any public forum. The ADA MOM team will be working closely with local representatives to get the word out to patients in need just prior to the event. In the meantime, we do not want any patients putting off needed emergency care while trying to wait for the MOM event, and we want to minimize the chance of having to turn away local residents in need because we have exceeded our capacity to deliver care.
