Tevebaugh Architecture (pronounced “Tee Vee Baw”) began developing our effective approach to professional design services nearly 40 years ago. With a consistent focus on outstanding client service and project leadership, we continue today with our pursuit of making significantly positive impacts for our clients. Our experience spans healthcare, senior care, workplace, residential, educational, and community environments, giving us a broad perspective on the ways architecture can enhance quality of life. Leadership and Collaboration that Brings Vision to Life Our team brings a depth of experience gained through the successful design and delivery of a wide range of environments, including healthcare, senior care, workplace, residential, educational, and community environments. Our collaborative team structure combines strategic leadership, technical expertise, and creative problem-solving to deliver thoughtful design solutions that are responsive to the needs of our clients. Project leadership is provided by Principals William Lenihan, AIA, and Shawn Crowley, AIA, who provide strategic oversight, design leadership, and accountability across the firm’s projects. Associate and Design Manager of Architecture Curtis Harkin, AIA, brings extensive experience managing complex projects requiring coordination among multiple disciplines, stakeholders, and technical requirements. Associate and Design Manager of Interior Architecture Britt van Veen, AIA, NCIDQ, WELL AP, leads the firm’s interior architecture design efforts, bringing expertise in creating environments that balance functionality, user experience, durability, and design quality. Through close collaboration with architects, consultants, and clients, Britt supports the development of cohesive spaces that enhance performance, reflect organizational goals, and integrate seamlessly with the overall design vision. Senior Project Managers Keri Morton-Wiedner, AIA, and Terence Malloy, bring decades of combined experience in healthcare and senior care design, guiding projects that balance clinical performance, regulatory requirements, and human-centered environments. Keri and Terry have collaborated extensively throughout their careers, developing a strong and complementary working dynamic. While key leadership personnel provide project direction, they are supported by the collective expertise of our 24-person design studio. Tevebaugh Architecture has served as the architect of record for multiple BoldAge PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) centers across the United States. These projects vary in scope and entail thoughtful interior improvements, all designed to expand access to the PACE model for older adults across the country. Current projects include PACE Centers in Memphis, TN and their first new, ground-up development in Fresno, CA, as well as facilities planned in Shreveport, LA and Seattle, WA. The Dayton PACE Center shown above involved major and minor renovations throughout approximately 14,600 SF, with select areas maintained as-is, along with installation of a new fire sprinkler system. The design solution reinforces connection, dignity, and wellbeing and considers the experience of visitors to the Center alongside the needs of the caregivers, staff, and facility operators.

Tevebaugh Architecture partnered with BoldAge PACE on the development of a new approximately 17,600 SF PACE Center in Middlesex, NJ. The design supports BoldAge’s mission of helping older adults maintain meaningful, independent lives at home by creating a welcoming environment centered on participant well-being, dignity, and connection. Tevebaugh’s experience with previous BoldAge PACE projects informed the planning and organization of the center, while allowing the design to respond specifically to the needs of the Middlesex community and its care team.

Tevebaugh Architecture provided design services for the full interior renovation and fit-out of an approximately 10,000 SF space, including new HVAC systems. Site improvements included a slight reconfiguration to accommodate bus drop-off and improve ADA accessibility at the main entrance. As the second successful collaboration with BoldAge PACE, Tevebaugh built upon our previous project experience in Calumet, IL, bringing a strong understanding of the program requirements, preferred organization, and workflow needed to support efficient operations and quality resident services.

The project focused on adapting the existing environment to meet BoldAge PACE’s programmatic and operational needs while creating a welcoming, comfortable setting that supports participant well-being, dignity, and independence. Targeted improvements enhanced functionality and workflow while incorporating BoldAge PACE’s branding and identity throughout the space, creating a cohesive environment that reflects the organization’s mission and approach to care.

This project continued the design partnership between Seasons Hospice and Tevebaugh Architecture, accommodating the Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care programming and support within the Baltimore Harbor Hospital. The renovation supports Season Hospice’s partnership with local healthcare service providers by integrating a dedicated hospice unit within the hospital. The renovation provided a refreshed contemporary aesthetic. The team found efficiency in the design by refreshing the existing patient room and nurse station layout with new finishes and services focused on hospice operations. In addition to design and construction administration services, Tevebaugh also served as the coordinator of landlord and tenant scope of work responsibility in the lease negotiations between the tenant and landlord, Seasons and Harbor Hospital respectively.

The finished suite provides patients and visitors a refined and dignified space that feels more hospitality than healthcare.
Family Room
The project consisted of renovating the 3rd floor of ChristianaCare’s Wilmington Hospital North Tower to accommodate Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care. The space formerly functioned as a behavioral health unit with an existing patient room and nurse station layout that worked well for hospice operations. Therefore, improvements focused on a complete renovation of all finishes, HVAC Systems, and lighting to create an environment that would support Seasons Hospice’s program of focusing on quality of life for the terminally ill patients they serve. Tevebaugh also served as the coordinator of landlord and tenant scope of work responsibility since the hospital is leasing the space to Seasons.

Developing a design solution system with Seasons, Tevebaugh has implemented an adaptive approach to fulfilling Seasons’ project goals across the country, carefully balancing consistent standards for patient care with the unique architectural, environmental, and jurisdictional requirements of each location. The new 14-bed Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care facility in Phoenix, Arizona, prioritizes patient privacy while addressing the region’s significant solar heat gain and responding to local zoning requirements for shading, building orientation, and contextual elevations. The restrained street-front elevation creates a solution that complements the desertcontemporary aesthetic of the surrounding neighborhood. Patient rooms are organized along a single-loaded corridor, allowing each room direct access to natural light and a connection to the outdoors through a glazed façade opening onto private, shaded outdoor patios along the rear elevation. A thoughtful renovation and expansion of 12 existing Labor and Delivery rooms at the Christiana Hospital, the project upgrades the existing facilities bringing them in line with the new adjacent Women’s and Infant’s building. Working within the confines of the existing Labor and Delivery Suite, the design team meticulously adapted the established standards to ensure a consistent clinical environment and continuity in the patient experience.

A new primary and specialty care facility for the Jefferson Health network for West Berlin, New Jersey area residents. Available services at the new outpatient clinic include dermatology, gastroenterology, plastic and reconstructive surgery consultation, primary care, and walk-in care. These comprehensive outpatient services are provided in 8 exam rooms, 2 specialty treatment rooms, as well as a dedicated blood draw and lab. Balancing a tight footprint with code requirements and operational efficiencies was critical to the success of this new model outpatient facility that Jefferson will use as a baseline for future outpatient facilities.

Tevebaugh Architecture provided architectural design services for the Nemours Children’s Health Specialty Care Clinic, a groundbreaking 18,500 SF facility dedicated to pediatric excellence located in Broomall, PA. The new location provides care across 14 distinct medical and surgical specialties, including allergy treatment, cardiology, OT/PT, audiology, otolaryngology, and kidney care. The clinic reflects Nemours’ commitment to providing comprehensive pediatric care in a welcoming, state-of-the-art environment. Our team embraced a vision that harmonizes functionality, aesthetics, and the unique needs of pediatric medicine. The result is a state-of-the-art facility boasting specialized healthcare suites designed for audiology, cardiology, physical therapy, radiology, ambulatory care, ENT, and orthopedic medicine. Each suite is meticulously crafted to cater to the specific requirements of its medical discipline while ensuring a cohesive and inviting environment.

The adaptive reuse of a former CVS pharmacy created a bright, welcoming new pediatric care clinic for the Nemours Children’s Health network in Media, PA. The scope included relocation of the main entrance, exterior facade improvements, building light improvements, and development of construction documents for the interior fit-out of the first floor and mezzanine levels.

Effective and efficient co-location of publiclyaccessible and educational healthcare facilities.
The College of Health Science is the first University program to move to the new STAR (Science, Technology and Advanced Research) campus. The program includes outpatient treatment facilities, such as physical therapy and healthcare services. It also houses human mobility labs, classrooms, and faculty offices. The design focused on intuitive wayfinding throughout the large facility, a color palette that balances visual interest and serenity, and the technical needs of approximately 400 staff members and daily users.

Medical Equipment Planning Comprehensive Services: Initial Concept to Installation Survey and Needs Analysis Tevebaugh will work to coordinate with end-users, suppliers, and multi-disciplinary stakeholders to identify new and existing equipment required for a space. This can include documenting and surveying existing equipment and inventory to be relocated, replaced, or expanded as part of a renovation or new construction project. A detailed equipment list including product information and specifications is developed for the client to review. Budget Development Defining project and budget goals allows for transparency early in the planning process. With an initial equipment list developed, financial parameters are used to help guide the decision-making process. During the budgetary phase, we help define expectations and outcomes to meet overall project needs. Technical Assessment and Design Working alongside engineers and vendors, we determine the suitability and compatibility of the medical equipment within the existing infrastructure. Exact product information and shop drawings are reviewed to verify electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and structural requirements while also ensuring functionality and ease of use. Floor plans and drawings are generated, with BIM software, to appropriately locate equipment to meet the needs of patients and staff. Procurement Support and Integration With funding and budgetary limits identified, we assist with vendors communications to obtain preliminary pricing and/or finalized quotes. We evaluate cost comparisons between vendors alongside lead times, shipping, installation, warranty periods, and storage requirements. To ensure successful integration of medical equipment, management of the budget on a consistent basis will allow for the project goals to be met.
Recent Project: DTCC Allied Health Center of Excellence (AHCOE) The Southeast building project includes more than 62,000 SF of renovations and relocations for the College’s state-of-the-art Allied Health Center of Excellence (AHCOE). The building includes new simulation classrooms, laboratories, and surgical suites for Paramedics, Surgical Technician, Medical Assistant and Histotechnician programs. Tevebaugh’s approach to the project began with the inventorying of all existing lab and medical equipment, followed by the creation of a comprehensive new equipment list of over 500 items. With a budget of approximately $1.4 million, we worked directly with end-users, vendors/suppliers, and project administrators to maintain both budget and project goals. Early coordination alongside our engineers and subject experts resulted in detailed drawing documentation for both new and existing equipment. Strategies for competitive pricing, staggered purchasing, and onsite storage helped maintain the project budget while supporting an efficient procurement process. The project serves as an exemplary balance of specified equipment with that of both specialized and multiuse programming spaces.
