Extended Day – AM/PM
Introduced last year, online registration has become a secure and convenient way to register regardless of day of week or time of day. Registration for most adventures can be found at www.tetonscience.org.
This year, Extended Day will allow children entering Kindergarten through Grade 6 supervised, unstructured playtime before and after traditional summer adventure hours.
Summer Selector New this year is the Summer Selector. This two page dashboard was designed to make choosing the right adventure easier than ever by organizing who, what, where and when in one location. Pages 1–2

Entering Kindergarten All programs run 8:30 am to 3:00 pm, Monday – Friday Immerse your children in exploration of nature through structured play and learning on the Jackson Campus of Teton Science Schools. Imaginations will thrive as youngsters dig and hike in the forests and open space surrounding the PreKindergarten classrooms of Journeys School and enjoy one excursion off-campus. Your children will be encouraged to become active and at ease outdoors while learning that the natural world provides endless adventures. Each week brings a new theme with instructors and special guests providing natural interpretation. Participants must be entering Kindergarten and age 5 by December 31, 2011.

At this camp, Español comes easily because you are having fun. At the end of the week you will be ready to show us what you know at the final fabulous fiesta and proudly say: “hablo español!”
Have you ever wondered how a bear finds enough food to eat or where a moose sleeps for the night? Investigate the wild world of Jackson Hole by following tracks, turning over rocks and exploring streams. Use your senses and the tools of a naturalist to explore the homes and habitats of our animal neighbors.
You already have the tools to be an explorer! Follow your senses and your curiosity on an adventure through the wild lands of Jackson Hole. See the world in a new way, exploring the big and small and the near and far using magnifying glasses, binoculars and field guides. Imagine what it would be like to live your entire life under, on or near the water. What adaptations would you need to survive? Join us to answer this question by collecting critters, observing beaver dams and finding tracks along the water’s edge. We will investigate the animals and plants that inhabit our streams, rivers and wetlands.
Have you ever found animal signs and wondered who left them behind? Have you ever seen the leftovers of a squirrel’s dinner? Have you ever looked down a trail of animal tracks and wondered where it leads? Join us on a safari across Jackson Hole to learn about the grand animals that grace this beautiful landscape and the stories their tracks share.

Come investigate with us and create your own science experiments.
Español is fun! Enjoy being immersed in the world of Español through natural and cultural activities including language, arts and outdoor exploration. It will be easy and "divertido" to build on your Spanish skills while singing, playing, hiking, cooking and dancing. Show off your skills at the end the week with a fabulous fiesta.

Grand Teton National Park is one of nature’s masterpieces where shapes, colors and patterns are all around you. Have fun capturing them through drawing, painting, sculpture and writing. Expand your palette when you use art materials found in nature such as leaves, sticks, bark and rocks to inspire and create your art.
What would you do if you had to shake hands with the president, eat dinner with a rock star or entertain a foreign guest? Come learn the best ways to make a first impression, make someone feel welcome and have a conversation with someone new. In a fun and interactive environment, learn and practice etiquette related to greetings, basic manners, courtesy, communication skills, dining skills and table manners. End the week with a formal luncheon where you share your new skills with others.

Play with construction and destruction using fun tools, materials and teamwork. Pit your creations against the elements and other engineers. How much weight can your bridge hold? Can you build something that will withstand the other teams’ methods of destruction? How long can a raft made of recycled materials stay afloat? Experiment with creative designs and become a master engineer!
Get your hands dirty and feet wet as you travel on foot and by boat to investigate the animals and plants that inhabit our waterways. Learn the story of how our lakes were formed while practicing paddling skills and making new friends. After a day of canoeing, you will camp Thursday night at Jackson Lake and spend the evening eating dinner and watching the sun set.
Overgrown trails, invasive species and discarded trash are no match for the Earth Heroes! Team up with your friends, grab a tool and make a difference in the valley. Summon your group’s powers to do good in the world and, for your efforts, end the day feeling happily exhausted and proud of your accomplishments.

You’ve come to the right national park! Everything from awesome animals to pretty plants begs to be captured by camera. Learn how to take intriguing pictures then use editing software to polish them for presentation on Teton Science Schools’ online photo album and in an end-of-the-week art show. Join students from around the country in a growing leadership movement that connects youth to nature. Hike and canoe through the mountains of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem while sharing ideas to impact your generation. This “once in a lifetime experience” is based at the Kelly Campus of Teton Science Schools and includes seven nights on campus and four nights camping in a backcountry setting.

Lace up your sneakers and come ready for laughs, fun and some friendly competition. This week will be full of sports, games and challenges including tug-of-war, relay races, kickball, soccer, four-square, obstacle courses and games created by you to determine the title of Champion of the Tetons.

Field Natural History
Grades 7–9, August 7–16 Have you been on a canoe camping trip? What part of Yellowstone do you want to see? Join a group of adventuring teens and help plan a canoe overnight camping trip and four days of Yellowstone exploration. This ten-day adventure, designed by teens for teens, is one you won’t want to miss.
Develop your skills as a field naturalist in the tradition of Aldo Leopold, John Muir and the Murie family. Hike and canoe while viewing the magnificent wildlife and diverse landscapes of Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. Creatively express your understanding of the natural world through art, writing, and discovery-based scientific research. High School credit received through Journeys School of Teton Science Schools. Explore the Tetons from behind the lens of a camera and learn how to edit your own videos and pictures to make an original creation. Experiment with digital cameras, handheld video cameras, smart phones and other devices. End the program with a film festival to see what others have dreamed up. We will have a variety of cameras for you to use, and you are also welcome to bring your own.
Join the 44th edition of this flagship summer program for students interested in ecology and applied field research. Immerse yourself in the study of the natural sciences in one of the most beautiful and ecologically-complex places in North America. Sharpen your critical and analytical scientific skills through extended group field-research addressing a current conservation issue. High School credit received through Journeys School of Teton Science Schools. This program is based at the Kelly Campus of Teton Science Schools and includes thirteen nights in lodges, three nights camping at a backcountry field research station, four nights camping in Yellowstone and six nights backcountry camping.

School and Youth Groups Teton Science Schools provide year-round, custom educational programs for student and youth groups from across the country. Typically three to seven days in length, these programs are developed collaboratively with school leaders, assuring that educational standards and objectives are integrated into program design. Students stay in dormitory-style buildings on the Jackson Campus or in historic cabins on the Kelly Campus while exploring Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks.

Jackson Campus
Instructors
Located in Coyote Canyon less than two miles from the town of Jackson, this campus is nestled on a nearly 900-acre site comprised of creeks, ponds, aspen, conifer and sage habitats. All buildings were designed and built using high-performance materials with low-level organic compounds and using minimal resources. Natural lighting and innovation in space design have resulted in an environment that benefits all who live, work and visit here.
The Field Science Education Team is comprised of professionals dedicated to creating fun and educational experiences for participants of all ages from around the country and the world. All instructors are at least 21 years old and many have advanced degrees in science and education. Each member of our teaching team completes a thorough application process including interviews, reference checks, drug testing and driving and criminal background checks. All members of our teaching team also receive extensive and ongoing training in risk management, driving, first aid, CPR, teaching methods and the cultural and natural history of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Our team is excited to welcome you as part of our family and to share amazing educational adventures in the mountains and valleys of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Kelly Campus Located inside Grand Teton National Park, this is the longtime home of Teton Science Schools. Engaging teachers, parents and organizational leaders in professional development that integrates educational excellence, innovation, leadership and place. • Workshops The Teacher Learning Center offers a wide array of professional development opportunities designed for teachers and administrators in public and independent schools.
• Conferences Campus buildings offer flexible meeting, dining and lodging space for intimate gatherings or larger groups of up to 300 people for conferences of teachers, administrators and other educational professionals.
• Customized Experiences Experiences include visits to our facilities in Jackson Hole and on-site training at schools across the country and the world. For example, Teton Science Schools' faculty recently led a two-day workshop on Place-Based Education for the teachers at the Episcopal School of Arcadiana on-site at their school in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Place-Based Professional Development for Teachers, Administrators and Educational Leaders
Wyoming Stream Team June 26 – July 1 This classroom and field-based course is available to teachers and educators of Wyoming and neighboring watersheds. The program focuses on training in water quality monitoring and includes monitoring supplies, meals, lodging, and two graduate credits, funded by a grant from the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality. Participants will build the foundation to initiate monitoring projects in their home communities. The workshop will culminate in a full day of hands-on stream testing. Participants will receive a full set of monitoring equipment upon completion of the workshop and will be eligible for a follow-up visit during the academic year from Wyoming Stream Team staff to assist in their monitoring projects. Based at the Kelly Campus of Teton Science Schools. $100 (6 days, 5 nights)

Program Size and Location: Typical program size varies from 12-15 participants per session. All programs meet at the Jackson Campus of Teton Science Schools unless specifically noted in description.
Space is Limited: Registrations will be processed in the order they are received and must be accompanied by full payment for most programs. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express as well as money orders or personal checks. An acceptance packet with all pertinent details will be sent to confirm your enrollment. Need-based financial aid is available for most programs.
Switch Policy: Once registration is complete for a summer youth, adult or family adventure, a $10 nonrefundable administrative fee will be assessed per adventure that is switched to a different date or adventure.
Cancellation Policy: If you cancel, a refund will be issued up to 30 days prior to the start date, less a $25 administrative fee per program. If cancellation is less than 30 days prior to start date, refunds will not be issued. Although we make every effort to adhere to our program schedule, extenuating circumstances may cause Teton Science Schools to cancel a program, in which case a full refund will be issued.
Adult & Family Adventures Inclement Weather Policy: Adult & Family Adventures will be adapted to any weather condition. Please bring closedtoed shoes and appropriate outdoor gear for the weather forecast. Evening Canoe and Picnic will depart campus in any weather and make a final decision about canoeing at the lake. If the weather is not conducive for canoeing, the group will hike or enjoy a wildlife tour through the park. If there is a threat of bad weather, families may choose to opt out of a program with a full refund up to thirty minutes prior to the program.
