ocal businessman Don Hearn has bought the dormant former Mexican-owned Nemak industrial plant in the city’s west end. The once state-of-the-art engine block cast manufacturing building, dating from the early 1990s and once owned by Ford, closed in 2019 due to high manufacturing costs. Hearn Industrial Services Inc. has a series of warehousing and light assembly, engineering and testing facilities in Canada and the U.S., with its main facility located on Seminole Road in the old Dominion Forge factory. “One of the driving forces was, we were actually looking to do a large warehouse development here in the Windsor area for some new projects we have coming with Stellantis and Ford,” said Don Hearn Jr. Hearn said the company actually looked at building a warehouse from Continued on page 5
