Got your umbrella? Ours was stolen, and we only just bought it (it was its first outing). Lucky, then, that to date winter has been feeling distinctly unwinter-like, with it’s teenage temperatures accompanying the more predictable helpings of wind and rain. Indeed, the unseasonal warmth has allowed some of the more summery wines to extend their influence deep into robust red territory. Nothing wrong with that, of course.
Anyhow, this month we call in on an old friend, i.e. France, the source of so much vinous inspiration for the rest of the planet, checking out the turf and terroir from Alsace to Bordeaux (We know. That’s only from A to B, but try looking for a French wine region starting with Z).
