Now you all know that we at Glengarry adore the wines of Burgundy and Bordeaux. However, Burgundy’s tragic vintages of late have taken the scarcity of product to a new level. And as for Bordeaux, we would have to acknowledge that, no, a bottle of Château Palmer does not cost the NZ$60 it once did. But wait. Just over the border in Italy there’s a revolution goin’ on. The great wines of Italy have always been superb. So what has changed? Not the wines themselves – the Italians are old hands at la dolce vita, and their vinos are just as brilliant as ever; the fact is, that superiority is suddenly looking a lot more attractive a proposition, comparatively, as prices elsewhere move upwards. So with that in mind, we packed Glengarry GM Liz Wheadon off to Italy to hunt down and secure the best of the new, something she is, these days, very good at. Liz returned with some fantastic new producers in tow that are going to propel your glass right into your hand.
