WELCOME TO THE NAKED HOP! A monthly publication coming to you from the Glengarry team of beer experts, where we explore everything beer related. Here you’ll find an in depth look into the beer world and what makes it tick.

In the eighth issue of The Naked Hop, we kick off by checking out some exciting new brews from a COLAB-orative bunch from the fringes of Riverhead and Kumeu, we explore a new Primary Growth Partnership giving New Zealand craft beer a shot in the arm, and finally we introduce the Fortune Favours range and delve into their goods.

Then when you feel a thirst that needs to be quenched, we’ll give you a handy look into the variety of brews pouring out our beer taps and invite you down to one our stores for an instore tasting.

COLAB BREWING HITS THE SHELVES

A Kiwi, a Brit and a German walk into a Craft Beer Bar‌ This could have been the start of yet another cheesy joke, but thankfully resulted in the very serious offerings of COLAB Brewing from the fringes of Riverhead and Kumeu on the North-Western edges of Auckland.

From a single block of sun drenched fields of Freestyle Hop farm in Upper Moutere this unique beer is a blend of Nelson Sauvin, Motueka and Pacifica Hops. The result is a pungent level of grapefruit and golden straw colour. This beer

gives the drinker a sense of place, and transports them to beautiful country side of Nelson. This is certainly a space to keep an eye on.

-TM With sustainability at its heart this initiative aims to create consistent growth in New Zealand's craft beer in terms of output and quality. New grower and brewer business models will allow the industry to grow quicker, creating new jobs and increasing imports. This initiative is estimated to add an extra $171 million per annum to hop growers and craft beer producers by 2027. One of the first beers to benefit from this project is the Garage Project Block Party series.

FORTUNE FAVOURS Much like the story of some of NZ’s best breweries, Fortune Favours is the tale of a group of people who gave up their day jobs and took the leap to go out on their own.

Located in Wellington and nestled down in Leeds Street, Fortune Favours is a brew pub that stands on the site of an old industrial building that was saved and restored by the Fortune Favours team. Founding brewer Shannon Thorpe teamed up with Wellington Hospitality veterans Andrew Williams and

ON TAP @ GREY LYNN DEEP CREEK PINEAPPLE EXPRESS IPA AUCKLAND / NEW ZEALAND Single hop IPA using the American hop variety El Dorado. Expect dank, tropical pineapple and orange candy flavour.
