‘Dida’ is Croatian for grandfather, so forth we dedicate this establishment to the memory of Josef Jakicevich who had the courage, vision and determination to see his dream realised; and to Tony Jakicevich who was the guiding force that set the foundation for a thriving and enduring family business. To our Dida’s we salute.

Cocktails Dida’s Classic Bellini

Invented sometime between 1934 and 1948 by Giuseppe Cipriani, founder of Harry’s Bar in Venice, Italy. Because of its colour, which reminded Cipriani of the colour of the toga of a saint in a painting by 15th-century Venetian artist Giovanni Bellini, he named the drink the Bellini.

The word that once meant ‘blood’ is now one of the most popular drinks in the world. This refreshing concoction, made of fruit soaked in red wine, Remy Martin Cognac and Cointreau, is a refreshing summer drink enjoyed around the world and traces its history back to ancient Roman civilisation in and around Spain.

Margarita

Created or perhaps at the very least popularised by Hollywood Socialite Margaret “Margarita” Sames in 1948. According to legend, it was during a party at her cliffside hacienda in Acapulco that Margarita began experimenting with el Jimador %100 de Agave tequila and Cointreau in what she then called “the drink”.

Amaretto Sour

The Amaretto Sour has uncertain origins but simply combines the lovely marzipan flavours of the world’s oldest Italian Liqueur, Disaronno Amaretto with the base of the classic sour cocktail.

The ‘Original’ Tom Collins

The Tom Collins is the original ‘Collins’ cocktail made from carbonated water, sugar, lemon juice and Hayman’s Old Tom Gin. First memorialised in writing in 1876 by “the father of American Mixology” Jerry Thomas.

Mojito

Cuba is the birthplace of the Mojito and one story traces the Mojito to a similar 19th century drink known as “El Draque”, after Francis Drake. The Mt Gay Silver Rum Mojito was a favourite drink of author Ernest Hemingway.
