Landon Ryan Clark is a 15-yearold freshman honor student at Greensboro Day School. He is a talented author, co-writing the best-selling children’s book Mommy, If You Just Hold My Hand with his mother.
In addition to his academic achievements, Landon is a member of the GDS JV Basketball team and serves as the 9th-grade student representative on the Student Council. His love for basketball is evident in his involvement with the sport, but his passions extend beyond the court.
Landon has a keen interest in photography and entrepreneurship, owning his own photography business, landotookthat, where he specializes in capturing moments that showcase the beauty and spirit of athletes. His artistic vision and commitment to his craft have earned him local recognition.
Furthermore, Landon is an active teen advisor with the nonprofit organization “Chase’s Chance,” where he works to ensure students have access to reading materials.
I enjoy playing basketball, reading inspirational books, and spending quality time with my family. I also love being outdoors and capturing photos that allow athletes to showcase their talents and express themselves.
LeBron James is someone who instantly comes to mind as a major source of inspiration. His dedication, work ethic, and success are qualities I truly admire—fun fact, I even wrote an entire essay about him! However, I believe inspiration is all around me, and it’s up to me to recognize and embrace it in my everyday life.
If I could change the world, I would keep things the same for now. Through my work with Chase’s Chance, I feel like we’re already making a meaningful impact. Our mission ensures that students have the resources they need to dream big and pursue their goals. I introduced the DAP (Dream Achievers Program), which emphasizes that every student has dreams, and together, we’ll work to ensure they have the support needed to chase those dreams. Chase’s Chance serves as a model for others, and I’m grateful to be a part of it.
Challenges are an inevitable part of the journey. As a student, I sometimes choose the more difficult path when selecting my classes, which can be demanding. As an athlete, time can be a challenge due to the limited hours available in the gym and the commitment required. I’ve had to focus intensely on my goals and the steps needed to achieve them. I remind myself that, as a student-athlete, I’m also human, and that whenever a problem arises, there’s always a solution to be found.
I manage these challenges by putting my faith in God. I pray and take time to recenter myself. My family has always been a strong support system, and I’m grateful for the coaches who choose to invest in me and my goals.
