It is a joy to present Cardinal Newman High School’s 2022-2023 Fall Sports Program highlighting this year’s student-athletes, sports teams, coaching staff and athletic sponsors.
Athletics are an important part of the formation of young adults. They teach concepts, skills, and habits that academics can’t teach alone – team work, shared sacrifice, resiliency, tenacity, hubris, and an appropriate level of pride. Naturally, Cardinal Newman has the added freedom to pray before and after games, plus at practices. We believe the Catholic principles we teach and practice serve our athletes well on the field and in life.
Our athletic programs would not be possible without the support of our donors, sponsors, and benefactors. All of the sponsors represented in this program have committed to furthering the Mission of Cardinal Newman High School, as well as Catholic education in the Diocese of Santa Rosa and specifically in Sonoma County. Please support their businesses whenever possible. Their support and contributions have helped our teams in many ways.
Thank you for your support! GO CARDINALS!

NOTE: The development of this program involves the collaboration of several individuals, including coaches, administrators, photographers, designers, and printers. It takes several weeks to produce.
During this time, team rosters can change, player jersey numbers can change, and athletes can transition away from a sport. Errors and omissions are regrettable, and your grace in understanding is appreciated.
Cardinal Newman’s athletic programs exist to enhance the relationship between faith and educational practice. The educational experience involves the entire person; mind, body, and spirit, and works to bring them closer to their potential. This total character development must be a daily school experience. Every aspect of the school can contribute to this endeavor, from the quality and thoroughness of the academic work to how the students behave and treat one another. This carries over to their experiences in athletics. Everyone at Cardinal Newman High School, the staff, faculty, parents, and coaches join in this effort to build moral, character, and faith by using every possible occasion to instruct, guide, encourage, and motivate. The Cardinal Newman athletic programs present ideal opportunities for teaching students life lessons. Creating and meeting goals, overcoming challenges, and learning to sacrifice for the good of others, should generate moments of pride, satisfaction, and joy, regardless of the wins and losses teams will experience. Participating in sports teaches our students self-discipline, respect, responsibility, and perseverance. It is up to everyone in the Cardinal Newman Community to do all they can to make these life situations as meaningful and productive as possible, on the fields and courts, as well as off of them.
