Yvonne's Message
Winter Greetings Members, I hope you are keeping warm and well. I have been absent from the MPSCR Office since May due to requiring heart surgery which I had at the Alfred Hospital after first having a week at the Frankston Hospital. Both hospitals have excellent Cardiac Specialists and exceptional care. Recovery is a slow process, I am still not permitted to drive but hope that changes after seeing my Cardiologist on Wednesday this week. In my absence I would sincerely like to thank my Office Assistants Jude Holloway, Joy Wells and Margaret Gorse for keeping the office home fires burning. You have all done an amazing job. Three of us from the office were all on the sick/surgery list at the one time, Mary had a nasty fall that put her in hospital and then to rehab and Dencil had Eye Surgery. A very big thank you to all the volunteers for stepping up in my absence and for the beautiful flower arrangement you gave me. A photo of which is in this newsletter. My thanks to the volunteers, past and present police officers, and register members for your kind words and get well messages. All have been very much appreciated. A big welcome to two new volunteers, Barbara Griggs and Eileen Mann, long may you both enjoy your volunteering for the MPSCR.

There are some Home Visit vacancies, particularly on a Monday and could also accommodate Wednesday and Thursday, either weekly, fortnightly or monthly. The choice is yours. Our volunteers would enjoy sitting with you for a chat between the hours of 10am to 1pm. It is strictly a social chat. You may also like to have a regular phone call from our friendly volunteers. If so, please contact the MPSCR office on 59754983 or call into the office which is situated just inside the front door of Mornington Police Station. The office is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10am -1pm. Closed weekends and public holidays. In May, our eldest member Olga celebrated her 105th Birthday and what a wonderful day of celebration it was. Olga hosted a party attended by Mornington Police Officers and many MPSCR volunteers also attended. Olga is an amazing lady and has such an interesting life story. An enjoyable time was had by all. The day trip to Pentridge was enjoyed by those who attended, especially touring through 'H' Division, which the prisoners called 'Hell'! Christmas In July at the Rose Cottage in Monbulk is always an enjoyable day and this year was no different. Thank you Members for your continual support of our events. 2026 a very interesting tour and Lunch at the MCG. Knowing how much you all enjoyed the Victoria Police Pipe and Drum Corp performance at our 25th Anniversary celebration, I have booked and the Register has paid for 35x concert tickets for the Victoria Police Pipe and Drum Band, the Royal Australian Navy Band, Royal Australian Navy Rock Band at the Frankston Arts Centre on Sunday 29th November 2026 at 1pm. This concert is held every year and is always full of great entertainment. Full details and costs are on the Events Page in this issue. Tour of the Melbourne Cricket Ground
Knowing how much you all enjoyed the Victoria Police Pipe and Drum Band at the MPSCR 25th Anniversary in March this year, you will absolutely love this concert at the Frankston Arts Centre. SUNDAY 29th NOVEMBER 2026 at 1pm. FRANKSTON ARTS CENTRE. The Navy Blue Harmony Concert featuring Victoria Police Pipe and Drum Band, Royal Australian Navy Band, Royal Australian Navy Rock Band. MPSCR Office has 35x Tickets only, so book early. $35.00 per ticket. Home Visits?
Would register members like a regular home visit either weekly, fortnightly or monthly on a Monday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, as we have some vacancies at present? If any member would also like a regular phone call on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday, please call into the office just inside the front door of Mornington Police Station or contact the office on 5970 4983, if the office is unattended please leave a message with your name and telephone number on our answering machine and please speak clearly. The office is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 10am to 1pm. CARRY YOUR MPSCR ID CARD WITH YOU
When joining the register you will be sent an ID card that will have your ID number on it. It is important to carry this card with you when away from home at all times. Should the need arise and you require assistance this card is readily available to emergency services or the attending officers to link them back to the MPSCR database where all your details are kept. The attending services will then be able to safely deliver you home or notify your next of kin should it be necessary.
It is important that you notify the office when you know you are going to be away for any amount of time, especially if you have regular telephone calls and or Home Visits. In order to keep the data base up to date we require the date you are leaving and the date you will be returning. If you are suddenly taken to hospital or in respite or you have gone in to permanent care, if possible please ask a family member or friend to let the office know on 5970 4983. Thank you.

Police Liaison Officer’s Report Mornington Police Senior Community Register Police Liaison Officer Report Hi everyone, I hope you are all well and looking forward to the end of winter, I know I am. Policing never sleeps and we continue to be busy with all manner of incidents throughout the Peninsula. On the 1st of June a team of Police members from Mornington, Hastings and Rosebud Police stations was created due to a result of community feedback, the team are focusing on more visible policing, crime prevention, road safety, public order, and antisocial behaviour. Some great results have been achieved in a short space of time, one being catching a male riding an illegal e-bike, with the help of our drone unit, operated by Sgt Patrick HAYES, the male was followed by the drone undetected back to his home address where members were able to apprehend him and impound the illegal e-bike. Something we see reported a lot at the station is scams, they often come in the shape of text messages, emails, and phone calls. The scammers have become very sophisticated so it can be very difficult to tell if it is a legitimate email or text. If you are unsure, STOP, never give any money or personal information if you are unsure, CHECK, ask yourself could this message be fake, PROTECT, act quickly – contact your bank if you have given away too much information. If in doubt, do not reply and delete the email or text message. Mornington Station is open daily 9.30am – 4.30pm feel free to attend if you would like some more advice on scams or any matters. There are multiple ways of reporting crimes, if you require Police to attend call 000, for non-urgent matters call the Police Assistance Line (PAL) 131444 or make a report online at police.vic.gov.au.
