The embers, the coal stoves, the heat of the crowd, which sometimes gather and sometimes disperse like a synchronized shoal, forming a unity where the mood converges in joy and conviviality. In Portugal, from north to south, popular festivals, always accompanied by grilled sardines, already assume a registered trademark, a Portuguese stamp as a whole, assumed by all classes, parties and religions. Tensai let itself “go with the wave” of such a secular theme, and, using its metal screen printing technology technique (surpassing the polluting and less durable vinyl/plastic method applied/glued to the appliance), launched two exclusive, limited-edition models, with this theme, so culturally rich and so established in our history and homeland. Popular festivals “breathe” color, texture, liveliness, dance, joy, communion and sharing, bluntly or eyeing any social conventions. Here it becomes clear that a fridge with a neutral, “undressed” and indifferent appearance is antagonistic to this whole motto.

A rich visual pattern, combined with the concept of the popular event, personifying the crowd’s agglomeration, where there is an undeniable individuality to each mind, but also an osmotic connection of moods and dispositions. The festive elements and objects characteristic of this date, such as basil, lights, handmade ornaments, glasses of sangria, wine and beer in unison toast, are embedded in this human fabric, as part of each, as part of everyone. Sardines bring flavor and color to all these categories, wherein one cannot exist without the other, nor can one exist by itself. 2

In the bash that goes on until dawn, it´s always necessary to replenish energy, to sustain minds and bodies, as “tradition demands”. Accompanying the din, the confusion, the vibrating footsteps, the mesh of voices and smiles, sardines enter fearless and desired by anyone who sets foot outside on a night of popular feast. Well, it’s exactly in this “roasted and eaten” way that we present it. An essential icon, an unrecognizable symbol and synonymous with “parties and celebrations”. The vivid and intense colors of the entire event blend perfectly with this delicacie, and in the end... only the fishbone is left!
