I am ever mindful of Adonai’s presence, God is at my right hand; I shall never be shaken. So my heart rejoices, my whole being exults, And my body rests secure. Psalm 23 (translation)

A psalm of David. Adonai is my shepherd; I lack nothing. God makes me lie down in green pastures; God leads me to water in places of repose; God renews my life; God guides me in right paths as befits God’s name. Though I walk through a valley of deepest darkness, I fear no harm, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff – they comfort me. You spread a table for me in full view of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My drink is abundant. Only goodness and steadfast love shall pursue me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the House of Adonai For many long years.

Doubting is but the forefront of faith, a faith in the infinite growth of an unbounded creation. A doubting age is one of restlessness and discontent with what is current; a doubt is an idea that is still alive. To doubt that the past has uncovered all things is to express faith that many things are still to be uncovered. To doubt that we have grown to our full stature and knowledge is to express faith that we may develop into beings of such power and dignity That we cannot as yet imagine what shall be. 405

Days pass and the years vanish, and we walk sightless among miracles. God, fill our eyes with seeing and our minds with knowing; let there be moments when Your Presence, like lightning, illumines the darkness in which we walk. Help us to see, wherever we gaze, that the bush burns unconsumed. And we, clay touched by God, will reach out for holiness, and exclaim in wonder: How filled with awe is this place, and we did not know it! Pause now to share daily miracles

Now Mount Sinai was all in smoke, For Adonai had come down upon it in fire‌(Exodus 19:18) Torah, given amidst fire, is compared to fire. Just as fire lives forever, so do the words of Torah live forever. When one draws near to fire one is burned by it; When one moves away from fire one is chilled. On Shavuot, we warm ourselves by the light of Torah, our precious heritage.

I offer thanks to You, ever-living Sovereign, that You have restored my soul to me in mercy: How great is Your trust.
