Adult Engagement & Brotherhood present

ONE DAY IN SEPTEMBER Baseball, Brotherhood, and the Birth of the All-Star Game

SCOTT D. REICH SUNDAY, OCTOBER 18 10:00 AM • SIMCHA ROOM

A bagel breakfast will be served. Free of charge.

On a crisp September afternoon in 1917, as the country waged war and the national pastime faced questions about its purpose, baseball paused to reconsider what it stood for. At Fenway Park, the game’s greatest stars— including Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, “Shoeless” Joe Jackson, Tris Speaker, Walter Johnson, and Connie Mack—took the field together in an exhibition played not for standings or championships, but for a colleague who had died, and for a cause larger than the game itself. Join Sinai’s own Scott Reich to hear about this important game and how it changed baseball forever.arrying the weight of a nation.

A heartfelt thank you to Rabbi Ilana Schachter and John Feuerstein, who joined with Brotherhood in purchasing our beautiful new Sukkah in honor of the Bar Mitzvah of their son, Jacob. What a wonderful and meaningful gift to our congregation! A big thank you to our Brotherhood Mensches, Allen Geller, Ron Leder, Jim Greebel, Jeff Krugman, Bill Brickner, Rich Blatt, and Larry Krasnoff, who generously took time out of their busy schedules to volunteer and help make sure our beautiful new Sukkah was ready for the entire congregation to enjoy! A special thank you to Juan Amador, who carefully stored all of the Sukkah parts and supplies and then helped bring everything to the courtyard so our Brotherhood team could get to work building our new congregational Sukkah! Though temporary by tradition, our new Sukkah will provide a special place where our congregation can come together, celebrate, learn, and create memories for years to come. It is especially meaningful that it was made possible through the generosity, teamwork, and spirit of community that Brotherhood is so proud to support. Gabe Markiz Brotherhood President
