History of Govind Dev Ji Temple The Govind Dev Ji Temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna, worshipped here in his youthful, charming form as Govind Dev Ji. The idol housed here is believed to be one of the only three original Krishna idols sculpted by Lord Krishna’s great-grandson, Bajranabh, around 5,000 years ago. It was brought to Jaipur from Vrindavan in the 18th century by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the founder of Jaipur. The king installed the idol in the City Palace complex so he could have a direct view of the deity from his palace.
