The Canton Tigers baseball team advanced to sectionals after defeating Milan 12-1 on May 15. The Tigers were scheduled to play Elsberry on Monday, but due to a weather delay the game was stopped after four innings. The teams continued play Tuesday.

The annual Memorial Day Service will be held at Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton on May 27 at 10:30 a.m. at the gazebo. American Legion members should arrive by 10 a.m.

EWING AND DURHAM MEMORIAL DAY SERVICES Memorial Day Services will be held May 27 at the Ewing Protestant Cemetery at 10 a.m. And at the Durham Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Both services will be conducted by the Lewis County Memorial Post 578.

POSTAL CHANGES HAVE NEGATIVE EFFECT By cutting its network of processing facilities the U.S. Post Offices has shipped mail to different Network Distribution Centers. In some cases they are further away then before. Due to this some of our subscribing PressNews Journal customers may experience an extra delay in the arrival of the newspaper. Unfortunately that is an issue that is out of our control. Advertisers with a Friday/Saturday event may want to place their ad the WEEK BEFORE the event, instead of the WEEK OF to assure maximum notice. Healthcare Leaders Encourage Participation in Regional Health Assessment Healthcare providers in Marion, Ralls, Pike, Lewis, Shelby, and Monroe counties are currently conducting a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA). The assessment process includes a confidential survey developed by VVV Research & Development, Inc., an Olathe, KS based marketing, research, and consulting firm. Although participation in the survey process has already been strong, more area residents are encouraged to complete the online survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/HannibalCHNA. The results of this assessment, along with secondary research highlighting publicly available information regarding the health status of the region, will be explored at an upcoming Town Hall meeting on Thursday,

June 20th at the Quality Inn in Hannibal from 5:30-7 p.m. All area residents are invited to participate in this gathering. Participants will engage in the process of prioritizing health issues which will then be used by the steering committee to identify the region’s top priorities. “We hope the community will take advantage of this opportunity to provide input into the future of healthcare and services we offer. We value area residents’ insights. The feedback we receive from this assessment is essential in planning for the future health and wellness of our region,” commented Pranav Parikh, MD, a member of the Regional CHNA Steering Committee. The results of this research and community assessment will then be used by region-

al health providers to develop a three-year strategy to address the top health challenges in the region. A regional steering committee has been formed to lead and monitor this process. Participants include: Diane Lay, Administrator - Lewis County Health Department, along with other area healthcare officials. For more information about the survey, the upcoming town hall meeting, or this regional health assessment and strategic planning process, contact Julie Leverenz, Vice President – Strategy and Planning for Hannibal Regional Healthcare System and project coordinator for the CHNA, at Julie. leverenz@hrhonline.org.
