LOCAL THIRD GRADER WINS AWARD Logan Curtis, Mary Immaculate third grader, was awarded the Kirksville Women of Today winner of their Mother’s Day Contest on Monday, May 7th, 2012. This contest was among area schools and he won with his poem: “My mom is fantastic because…” She takes care of my family. She cleans my room and does my family’s laundry. She gets us food and makes it for us. She loves me no matter what I do. For example, one time I was making a hamburger and I burned it, and my mom said, “It’s okay, mistakes can happen.” That made me feel good, because I know she loves me even when I Mess up. Also, family owns a restaurant, and my mom teaches me what I need to know to help serve the customers, such as cooking, being nice to people, and helping someone out when they need help. She is the best mom in the world, the best that anyone could ever have.
