NOVINGER CITY WIDE YARD SALES THIS WEEKEND Town-wide yard sales will be held in Novinger on Saturday, April 28th. The sales will begin at 8:00 a.m. The event is coordinated annually by Novinger Renewal, Inc., a non-profit corporation established for historic preservation and community betterment.
SPRING TURKEY SEASON OPENING DAY TOTALS
Atlanta Principal, Robin Carter, challenged Atlanta students to raise $1,000.00. If the students raised that amount, Carter would kiss a farm animal, which was a cow. Thirty-eight students in grades Kingergarden-8 participated in the MathA-Thon for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, which is located in Memphis, Tennessee, and treats children with catastrophic illnesses at no cost to families, for a year total of $2,564.96. Their 6-year total is $9,100. The money raised this year will pay for two ultrasounds at St. Jude’s.
Church Without Walls Announces Winners From Easter Egg Hunt
Spring Turkey Season opened on Monday, April 26th with a decrease statewide of 830 birds. Local counties reporting kills were: Adair County with 48 Adults and 7 Juveniles for a total of 55, up 3 from last years 52; Knox County with 24 Adults and 6 Juveniles for a total of 30, down 7 from last years 37; and Macon County with 45 Adults and 8 Juveniles for a total of 53, down 20 from last years 73. The top three counties were Adair/ Monroe with 55, Randolph with 54 and Macon with 53.
MODOT EMPLOYEES SHOW THEIR CARE Missouri Department of Transportation employees showed they care for others in a generous way by contributing $171,279 in the annual Missouri State Employees Charitable Campaign. This is the fifth consecutive year MoDOT has came in first. The campaign is organized by the Missouri Office of Administration to provide state employees with a unified, but voluntary, fundraising drive for charitable organizations. Overall, Missouri state employees raised a total of $1,077,000 for 1,069 local, state and national non-profit organizations during the campaign.

Church WithOut Walls of Atlanta has announced the prize winners at their annual Easter Egg Hunt held Saturday, April 7, 2012. Children of all ages were invited to attend the annual outreach event including teenagers and adults. The morning’s rains subsided at the scheduled start time of 11:00 A.M. The event was opened with prayer. The grand prize for the children’s division was three bicycles. Two of the bikes were donated by Macon’s WalMart. The winners of the raffle drawing were Harley Bergfield, Keel Wooten and Owen Baker. Other prizes included skate passes to the Macon Skate Center, movie passes to the Macon Cinema, passes to the Maples Repertory Theater, pool passes from Macon’s Comfort Inn, a grocery gift card from Prenger’s Foods, three iTunes cards and two gas cards. This free outreach event also included a hot dog lunch for the children and families. The all-beef hot dogs were donated by Richard and Jackie Thomas of Madison. More than 5,000 eggs and goody bags were be scattered throughout the yard at 619 S. Williamson in Atlanta. Local teens and adults assisted with the event by packing eggs for the kids.
