CITY OF LA PLATA TO PASS NEW ORDINANCE AN ORDINACE TO ADD A NEW SECTION 235.010 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF LA PLATA, MISSOURI. Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of La Plata as follows: Section 1. That section 235.010(B) (6) is hereby added to the municipal code of the City of La Plata to read as follows: Section (B)(6) – It shall be unlawful for any person(s) to operate a motorized apparatus (cars, trucks, motorcycles, tractors, all-terrain vehicles, golf carts, agriculture equipment, grounds maintenance equipment, etc.), bicycles, or any form of transportation utilizing livestock outside of the approved areas without expressed written permission from the Mayor of La Plata. Approved areas are identified as the lake’s access road, parking lot, boat ramp, and recreational vehicle parking areas. Section 2. Penalty. Any person violating any of the provisions of the code hereby adopted shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in an amount not exceeding five hundred dollars ($500.00) is subject to a minimum fine of $50.00 dollars with a maximum fine of $500.00 and may be accountable for the full cost of resource restoration. Section 3. This Ordinance shall be in full force from and effect after its passage and approval by the Mayor. Passed this 13th day of March 2012.

Phipps Visits With Legislators The Visit Was Part Of Truman State University’s Capitol Appreciation Day Alan Phipps of La Plata, Mo., met Sen. Bill Stouffer and Rep. Tom Shively during Truman State University’s Capitol Appreciation Day in Jefferson City, Mo., Feb. 22, 2012. Nearly 35 students traveled to the Capitol for the annual event to visit with legislators, Capitol staff and the public about their research projects and experiences at Truman. Phipps, of La Plata, Mo., is spending the semester interning at the Capitol with Sen. Timothy P. Green. Founded in 1867, Truman is Missouri’s only highly selective public liberal arts and sciences university. U.S. News & World Report’s 2012 edition of “Best Colleges” ranked Truman as the No. 1 public university in the Midwest region for the 15th consecutive year. Truman was ranked No. 1 by Consumers Digest on its list of “Top 50 Values for Public Colleges and Universities” released in the magazine’s June 2011 edition. In its “2011 College Rankings,” Washington Monthly listed Truman No. 3 among master’s universities nationwide based upon the institution’s contributions to the public good, with student service as one of three cri-

public colleges and universities, according to the Missouri Department of Higher Education. The University, located in Kirksville, has an enrollment of 6,200 students.

The Musical stars Jenae Young as Violet, Toni Reikberg as Judy, and Jamee Nelson Bowen as Doralee. The show began March 9 at the Royal Theatre in Macon.
“9 to 5” the musical hits the stage running at the Royal Theatre in Macon on March 9, 10, 11, 15, 16, and 17. Carousel Productions once again takes a musical that is new to amateur and community theater audiences and brings it to life in only the way Carousel can. “We were looking for a new, fresh musical to produce that would excite our audiences and would “fit” our group of actors and singers. Everyone knows the movie “9 to 5” and the strength of the three women who made the movie famous. Well, we feel we have those women in our show!” says Mary Beth Lolli Truitt one of the co-directors. Portraying Violet (the Lily Tomlin role) is Jenae Young, a Carousel veteran who was last seen playing Adelaide in last year’s production of Guys and Dolls. Judy (the Jane Fonda role) will be played by Toni Riekeberg who is a favorite local vocalist. And Jamee Nelson Bowen will dazzle as Doralee (the Dolly Parton role). Jamee is known locally for her success in the country
