Minnesota man charged in accident that injures 5 BY EVA MARIE WOYWOD Jordan Balow, age 22, of Esko, MN is facing three felony counts of 2nd Degree Reckless Injury, two felony counts of 2nd-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, and a citation for Unreasonable and Jordan Balow Imprudent Speed for an accident that occurred on Sunday, May 18th. According to the Juneau County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to a report of a one vehicle accident in Summit Township. When deputies arrived on the scene on County Highway I near Laack Road they located a vehicle turned over on it's roof and five individuals inside who were injured. The driver of the vehicle was missing. Through an investigation it was discovered that the driver had left the scene of the accident prior to the officer’s arrival. Victims of the accident were transported to Hess Memorial Hospital in Mauston. That driver ended up being Balow who was located several hours later and placed under arrest. Emergency responders arriving to assist at the accident were Mauston, Elroy, and Wonewoc Ambulance and the Mauston Fire Department. The Mauston Police Department and Wisconsin State Patrol assisted the Sheriff’s Office with the investigation of the accident. The incident remains under investigation. On Monday Juneau County Circuit Court Judge Paul Curran placed Barlow on a $10,000 signature bond. He is to have no contact with the accident victims and is required to adhere to absolute sobriety. He is scheduled for an initial appearance on May 21, 2014 at 9:00 a.m.

AUTHORITIES SEARCH FOR IDENTITIES These two individuals are being sought for questioning in connection with thefts from gaming machines from a business in Necedah. The thefts occurred on Saturday, May 17th, 2014. The suspects are believed to have worked together and may have used a master key to enter gaming machines and remove money. If you know the identity of either individual, please contact Deputy Leque at the Juneau County Sheriff's Office at 608-847-5649. You may also leave an anonymous tip at www.juneaucrimestop.com/tip. Citizens should not try to apprehend these individuals themselves.

Two long time employees set to retire from Juneau County BY EVA MARIE WOYWOD At the Tuesday morning Juneau County Board of Supervisors meeting, Gayle Wilcox and Diane Dahl were

both recognized for their decades of service in their employment. Both women had submitted their retirements which supervisors approved at the meeting. Wilcox was first employed by the County in September of 1987 when she was hired as a full time Outpatient Clinician with the Department of Human Services. In the resolution accepted by county supervisors they honored her for her dedication and her ability in building relationships: "Gayle has numerous years of experience that will never be replaced. She has built several positive working relationships and will be missed for her loyalty, dedication, kindness, knowledge, and sense of humor.” Dahl began her employment with the County in

November of 1992 when she was hired as a clerk typist in the Clerk of Courts office. In 1995 she transferred to the audit department where she was a data entry clerk. In May of 1999 she moved over to the Juneau County Sheriff's Department as Office Manager, a position she has remained at and will leave when her retirement becomes effective on July 13, 2014. Supervisors recognized Dahl for her dedication, integrity and commitment to service. Both women were present at the meeting and accepted a plaque from County Board Chairman Alan Peterson. Also present for the meeting were many co-workers wishing both congratulations on their retirement.

Four year old Sophia Rogers-Brummund. Sophia wants to remind area residents that on Memorial Day weekend volunteers will be stationed around town for the Annual Poppy Program. The paper poppies are a symbol of freedom and the blood sacrifice of troops in wartime. Donations are kindly accepted!
