Grenade unearthed and detonated in Hillsboro According to reports, on the morning of Tuesday, April 8th, residents in the Hillsboro area heard an explosion. That explosion was the result of a pineapple grenade that was discovered the previous day near the intersection of County Highway F and Wernick Avenue. When the grenade was discovered, local law enforcement were contacted and secured the scene until members of the Madison 115th EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) were able to survey the situation. Reports go on to state the grenade was secured and transported to Firemen's Memorial Park where C4 explosives were used to destroy the ammunition. Investigators believe the grenade had been unearthed due to frost pushing it to the surface after being buried underground for an extended period of time.
BOBCAT CAUGHT ON TRAILCAM This bobcat was caught on a trail cam near New Lisbon on March 23rd at 6:54 a.m. Landowner Travis Grob was kind enough to share the photo of the very healthy big cat with The Messenger. These animals are very elusive, but are becoming more of a common sight in the area. Several readers facebooked The Messenger saying they had also recently spotted a bobcat, assuming it may be the same cat. While bobcats are not thought to pose a danger to humans, never approach or feed a wild animal. The Messenger always invites area residents to send us your wildlife photos.
