Mauston man charged with ID theft BY EVA MARIE WOYWOD A 21 year old rural Mauston man, Jeffrey E. Miller, has been charged in Juneau County Circuit Court with possession of a firearm, identity theft, misdemeanor theft, and receiving stolen property. All charges are listed as repeated offenses. According to the criminal complaint on March 7, 2013 Juneau County Deputy Debbie Leque responded to a disturbance call in Lemonweir Township. It was during that call that Deputy Leque became aware that Miller may have been in possession of stolen items that were attained through identity theft. The woman making the call stated she was having an argument with Miller's father over Jeffrey, and her discovering some stolen stereo equipment in the home. The equipment had already been removed prior to law enforcement arriving. Law enforcement was also provided with a shipping receipt for shoes and a toddler bed that had been delivered to a vacant property in the City of Mauston. The "bill to" on the receipt was for a woman in Valparaiso, Indiana. The shipment totaled $253.16 in merchandise and shipping. On March 11 the deputy made contact with the woman in Indiana who verified she had fraudulent activity on her Eastbay account. The woman stated that she did not place the order for the shipment to Mauston. On March 12 a search warrant was executed at Miller's residence in Lemonweir Township. Officers discovered in his residence items like those listed on the shipping receipt. In addition to those items, law enforcement discovered firearms and alcohol in the residence. Miller was on probation at the time and his probation officer was called in to do his own inspection of the premises. In an interview with Miller he is said to have told the deputy that he was unaware of the guns and that he should not to be blamed for weapons in his father's residence. Miller also claimed that shoes, and other items were delivered to him and ordered "from a girl" in Stevens Point. The deputy reportedly contact the girl Miller claimed had ordered the items and she denied his claim. She went on to state that she had only met Miller once. Miller claimed she was lying. On March 14, 2013 Miller appeared for a bond hearing before Juneau County Judge Paul Curran. He was placed on a $10,000 signature bond. He is scheduled to appear on April 3, 2013 for an initial appearance.

Injuries reported in weekend accident A 38 year old Wonewoc woman, Amy Eastman, suffered injuries after losing control of her 2008 Chevy Silverado. The accident occurred in the Town of Summit on Highway 58 near the intersection of Brown Road. A contributing factor was the layer of snow on the roadway. Eastman's vehicle spun out of control and slid into a ditch. Her non life threatening injuries did result in her needing medical attention and she was transported to Mile Bluff Medical Center in Mauston.
