Heintz convicted of heroin sales in Monroe County Monroe County District Attorney Dan Cary announced today that a Monroe County jury convicted 30 year old Christopher Heintz of Holmen, formerly of Sparta, of the charge of Conspiracy to Deliver/Distribute more than 50 grams of heroin on Monday, February 11th. Heintz was accused of delivering heroin to many others over an extended period of time in and around Monroe County. After 5 days of trial the Monroe County jury deliberated for just under 3 hours before rendering their verdict in this case. District Attorney Cary said, "The jury heard the evidence and rendered a just and true verdict in this case". "Christopher Heintz was exposed for the drug dealer that he is, and is being held accountable for the harm he has caused this community", Cary continued. Cary also said, "successful prosecution of this case resulted because of the hard work and dedication of our law enforcement agencies, and their cooperative and comprehensive investigation." Law enforcement agencies participating in this investigation included the City of Sparta Police Department, Monroe County Sheriff's Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and others. Because Heintz is a habitual criminal and this was his second or subsequent drug conviction, he faces a potential maximum 52 year sentence and $100,000 fine. Heintz was represented by Attorney Sean O'Neill of LaCrosse, and Monroe County District Attorney Dan Cary prosecuted the case. Following the announcement of the jury's verdict Monroe County Circuit Court Judge Mark Goodman, who presided over the case, revoked Heintz' bond and remanded him to custody pending sentencing which will be scheduled for a later date.
