Area Residents Complete Community Alliance Program
Mock Fire On October 8th, the Callao Volunteer Fire Department responded to the Callao C8 School for a “Mock” fire. Inside the building a “victim” was “planted” and the fire fighters were to locate him and bring him to safety. Within three minutes the victim was rescued.
Macon’s Christmas Events Underway! As the local shops prepare for their holiday sales the town is quickly showing their Christmas spirit! Windows decorated, trees and lights strung through the town and bows and ribbons wrapped and tied all showing the signs of the holidays! This year’s theme for the Christmas parade is “Twas’ the Night before Christmas”, pre-registration deadline will be Monday, November 26, 2012. The parade will be on Friday, November 30th at 4:30 pm. Line-up will begin at 3:30 PM at the Macon County Courthouse. All Parade entries will line-up as you arrive. The route will begin at the Macon County Courthouse then go south on Rollins Street to Vine Street then east on Vine Street to Jackson Street, north on Jackson Street to the Park. The parade ends at Jackson and Sheridan Streets. NO SANTA’S are allowed on any entry. Judging will be conducted during the parade. 1st, 2nd and 3rd places will be awarded in the following 3 categories: FLOATS and DECORATED VEHICLES & WALKERS. For more information call the Chamber office at 660-385-2811 between the hours of 9am to 4pm Monday – Friday. Registration forms may be dropped off at the Chamber Office at 119 N. Rollins or faxed to 660-385-6543. After the parade don’t forget to stop and see the lighting at Jackson Street Park. Santa will be there waiting for all the children’s request. 2012 Troop B Area Community Alliance Program graduates Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces on November 12, 2012, 19 Troop B area residents completed a Community Alliance Program (citizens’ academy) offered by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Troop B Headquarters. This was the eighth program of this type to be conducted at the Troop B Headquarters since 2001. The Community Alliance Program is a unique opportunity for citizens to gain insight and understanding of the training and many duties of the Missouri State Highway Patrol. It also offers an opportunity to meet
and interact with several members and employees of the Patrol. During the program, the participants met at the Troop B Headquarters in Macon, MO, for 10 consecutive Monday evenings and received classroom and practical instruction on various topics including firearms, traffic stops, traffic crash and criminal investigations, polygraph examinations, and driving while intoxicated enforcement. The program culminated with an awards ceremony, which was held at and sponsored by the Macon Comfort Inn. During the awards ceremony, participants received a plaque for their participation. The Bevier Fire Department was called to the residence of Jim Deshazer at 400 Elm St. in Bevier at about 5:30 pm on Thursday evening. Cause of the fire is under investigation and not available at press time.
