Hawks Family Maze Draws Large Crowds By Cle s McConnell Vede e Reporter
Hawks Family Maze, LLC, is the creation of Roger and Ronda Hawks and their children, Rebecca and Shawn Cossins, Rachelle and Broc Divine; and Ronnie and Sharla Hawks. The goal of the Hawks Maze is to provide a safe, clean, wholesome, fun filled farm atmosphere for families to enjoy. Refreshments are available. At the Maze, you can enjoy a trip through the maze cornfield, a bounce house, corn crib, pedal tractor pulls, petting zoo, wagon train rides, hedge apple cannon and more. The Maze consists of ten acres of corn with a children’s section and adult section with two miles of trails cut in the field. The maze was designed by Shawn Cossins as a pumpkin which was sent off to Kansas and plotted on the field map and then cut out by GPS directions. The operation of the maze would be difficult as a start up operation without some generous help from Jeff Julian, lighting; Brent Grisham, 4-wheeler; Casey Boyd, bounce house; Paul Obert, train ride and the hedge apple cannon. The Maze is operated by the Hawks family and
grandchildren: Elizabeth, Jonathan, Blake, Easton, Ramsey, Clayton and the little ones: Kendrick, Nora and Nila Cooper. Come and enjoy having your picture taken in a scare crow cutout, painted and drawn by Ramsey Divine, located at the entrance of the maze trail. Open hours are Fridays 6 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.; Saturday, 1 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.; and Sunday 1 p.m. 9 p.m. until November 1. Prices: 13 years old and up: $5; 6-12, $3; and 5 and under: free. There is a small charge for the bounce house, wagon rides and cannon. The Saturday night haunted maze is $7 for adults. Group prices are available by calling Shawn at 417-681-1098. The maze is located nine miles north of Lockwood on 97 Hwy., then 1/2 mile east on 42.
All aboard for the train ride
Some kids enjoy the corn crib, a sandbox-like area.

The buggy and pair pull a wagon.
John drives the lead wagon. By Cle s McConnell Vede e Reporter
John Gustafson, his wife and six children, made a stop at Summer Fresh in Greenfield with
their wagon train on Wednesday, October 8, 2014. They were on their way to camping at Hulston Mill, east of Green-
field. Their wagon train consists of four wagons, a buggy pulled by a combined force of four Clydesdale horses and two
donkeys. “We average about 15 miles per day,” John says. “But we have gone up to 30.” John makes cutlery
and knives which are hand forged and also pipes. He has them for sale.
