The Everton Senior class received an unexpected donation this week in their effort to raise money for project graduation. The class had set a goal of raising $1000 per student. The money is used to provide a safe and fun event for the seniors and to

give away prizes and celebrate their accomplishment of graduation. State Senator Ron Richards of Joplin donated $1,000 to the class of 10 seniors. The check was presented to the senior class by Lorri Wycuff, vice chair of Dade County Republican Central Committee and State Committee woman from the 32nd senatorial district.

Kristen Limpus is the senior class sponsor for any one that would like to donate any amount of money the seniors would be more than happy to accept. Our community should be proud of these young people for setting a goal and working hard towards that result. That is a valuable lesson that will take them far in life.

Dade County is in Senator Richards’ district and he works hard to represent the county and help further the success of the county and schools. Senator Richards is currently the Senate Floor Leader for the 2015-2016 session. He also holds the distinction of being the only member to be elected Speaker of the House and Senate Majority leader in

100 years. “Having worked with Senator Richards and his wife Patty, I can honestly say they are good, kind people and work hard to make Missouri and specifically our area a better place to live,” states Wycuff. “We thank Senator Richards for his hard work and dedication. “

A Christmas Message

“To please my wife.” While others know, this day is about life. Thee birth of a

Savior? Come on get real. Everyone knows that I don’t steal. I never smoke dope and I don’t stay out late. I even go to church and put money in the plate. You say I need Jesus. Well, that can’t be true. I’ll make it on my own ‘cause I’m better than you. A baby in a manger 2,000 years ago, that great. But don’t tell me that He somehow affects my fate. Our society is changing. There’s no need for religion. The people are so cold, I’d rather befriend a pigeon. I can’t see God and

science can’t prove he exists. I have many reasons to doubt, would you like a list? I have my own list, thank you. Covered up with evidence that Jesus came for me and you. I know the answers to: Why did He come and why did He die? And if he truly was the Son of God, why did He cry? The answers are forever settled in heaven, He came to give eternal live to all men, even ME. I tried to make it on my own, when I realized I’m not worthy to stand before God’s throne. None of us are

and never will be, unless we first understand what Jesus did when He died on the tree. His blood was shed for all my sins. Now, when life’s over, God will say, “You win.” It’s not enough to say Jesus died. He rose from the grave and is forever alive. He came down from heaven to set men free. He invited us to love Him, personally. Religion doesn’t cut or leave you alone. Jesus wants to make your heart His permanent home. So this is your invitation in the form of

a card. Will you accept Jesus, or is your heart too hard? I pray that you will and won’t say “I’ll wait.” Many have done that, and thus sealed their fate. If you do, the same baby who was born in a manger will look at you one day and call you a stranger. This year don’t worry about fancy clothes and presents under the tree. Jesus gave the best gift and guess what? It’s free. This year for Christmas start a new trend. Tell someone about Jesus. His kingdom has no end. Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas.
