Mayor Ralph Relyea was voted as the Best of DeWittâs Citizen of the Year. As mayor, Relyea does a lot for the city of DeWitt. Nearing retirement from a very successful photography business, Relyea unselfishly ran for mayor of DeWitt. During his short term in office, he has managed to resurrect pride in DeWitt and seems to be leading the city in some very positive directions. Relyea began his career in DeWitt at DeWitt Bank & Trust and later he built a very successful photography business. During that time, Relyea took photos for school events, weddings, senior photos, family photos, and much more. He has been very involved in the community for many years. He seems to have an ability to get along with all kinds of people. He is very much a âpeople person.â When dealing with conflicts, Relyea keeps a cool head, weighing both sides of a situation before making a decision. He is very willing to go to all the meetings to find out more information to

Mayor Ralph Relyea help better DeWitt, especially the municipal meetings in Little Rock and Hot Springs. Relyea is making changes without making too many waves. He has taken positive steps to address the rugged streets of DeWitt. He is also very involved with the recycling center and has helped with the e-waste drop-offs
and pick-ups. Relyea is also involved in his church, First Christian Church, and has been for many years. He also serves as an elder at the church. He is married to Tiila Relyea, and they have two grown daughters, Tammy Hornbeck, of DeWitt, who shares her fatherâs passion for the community and its growth, and Teri Berbel, of Mansville, TX, who is an artist and has just published a book. He has four grandchildren with whom he always tries to spend time hunting, fishing and golfing. He also has two great-grandchildren and a third on the way. As one can see, Relyea not only has a strong sense of community, but he also has a strong sense of family. His ability to listen, willingness to learn, high energy level, enthusiasm, outstanding people skills, and strong leadership skills seem to be transforming the city and the area. It is exciting to see new faces involved in the economic development of the community. Mayor Ralph Relyea has brought a new spirit to the community. Heâs a good, all-around guy, who really wants to make DeWitt a better place.

âOur company has spent around $1.5 million to give us a totally brand new store. We are very proud of it, and hope you are too. We hope you will come by and check us out and see the great deals weâre offering.â Dan Ouellette, Piggly Wiggly manager, states about the recent remodel of Piggly Wiggly. Over the past couple of months, Piggly Wiggly has been going through some major renovations. The renovations are immediately noticeable as soon as you pull into the parking lot and see the completely remodeled storefront, including the new Piggly Wiggly sign as well as the new marquee sign. As soon as you step through the first set of doors, you see the new lobby with
brick front and new shopping carts. Once you step into the store, the office for all money transactions stands in the middle. To the right, the produce section has all new wood tables and wood laminate floors. There is also a new produce front that makes the department look sharp. The meat department has all new coolers as well as two 12 feet bunker boxes that give the department a great variety of the freshest products available. The market associates are always willing to give you any specialized cuts of meat that you would like. You can expect to find almost anything you are looking for in the expanded frozen section. Doubled in size, the frozen department has the best selections of frozen food around. The dairy department has all new cases, which guarantees freshness. Come in and enjoy a meal at the sit-down eatery in the newly renovated Piggly Wiggly
deli. It, too, has been completely remodeled to give it a brighter look with similar laminate wood flooring as the produce department. Once youâve reached the checkout stands, you will find that they all have new registers and monitors. This allows for easier, smoother, and speedier transactions for the customers as well as the employees. The tobacco store, just inside to the left, offers cigarettes at the state minimum prices, so youâre bound to find the best deal in town. Along with the front, the backroom has also been remodeled. All the coolers are new to ensure a better freshness of their products. All the shelving and end caps throughout the store have been replaced. All in all, Piggly Wiggly is almost a completely brand new store. The manager and staff would like to thank everyone for their patience throughout the renovation, and they hope everyone will enjoy the changes.
