Arkansas Post Museum To Hold “Fall Fair”
Through October 3, 2014, all students can take the GED Ready practice test for free at their local education center, located on PCCUA DeWitt and Stuttgart campuses. Students can see whether they’re ready to pass the GED test and get a personalized study plan to help focus their studying so they can score higher. Contact Kena Henderson at 870-6734201 ext. 1846
RUMMAGE SALE
The DeWitt Senior Center is having their annual rummage sale Saturday, October 4, 2014 from 7:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Lots of clothes, jewelry, books, toys, some furniture, dishes and lots more! All proceeds from the rummage sale benefit the DeWitt Senior Center and Meals On Wheels

DeWitt School District PTA meeting is October 7th at 5:30 in the DES Library.
On Saturday, October 11th, from 1:00 to 6:00 pm, Arkansas Post Museum State Park will be the setting for an autumn celebration called “Fall Fair”. This event will be held instead of Fright Night this year. The fair will begin at 1:00 pm with face painting, carnival games with prizes, fortune telling, spell casting, bingo, treat walk, paint your own pumpkin, caramel apple making, kettle corn and
lots of trick-or-treating candy. Most activities will require tickets that can be purchased at the entrance for 25¢ each. The Gillett Civic Group will have a concession stand during this time as well. The museum is helped every year by some wonderful volunteers and donors. This event would not happen without the help of these individuals and organizations. If you or your group is inter-
FALL DINNER AND AUCTION Daniel Young was diagnosed with ALS in February 2014. A Dinner and auction will be held to help Daniel pay for medical expenses. Daniel Young was diagnosed with ALS in February 2014. His symptoms started months before with weakness in his right hand and right arm. Right now, Daniel’s wife Courtney has quit her job to take care of him and their two girls, Marlie (7) and Maggie (14). Daniel is still able to work as a manager of GreenPoint Ag in Humphrey. He uses a walker as his mobility is limited. Daniel is a 1994 graduate of Stuttgart High School. He and his family live in White Hall, Arkansas. He graduated from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro with a agriculture business degree. His family owns a farm just south of Stuttgart. He and
his dad, Tommy Welch, have also had a duck hunting guide service for a number of years. ALS patients can accumulate medical bills of upwards of $200,000 a year. Fatal Shooting over the weekend in DeWitt 24 year old Darren Duncan is in custody after the incident. Darren Duncan, age 24, is in custody awaiting formal charges on a homicide that occurred Sunday night in DeWitt. The deceased is Courtney London, age 31. Prosecuting Attorney Robert Dittrich said “I will be filing charges in DeWitt on Wednesday. It will be a homicide charge of some nature, but I just received the information and am still reviewing it.” According
to Sgt. Keith Whitmore with the Arkansas State Police no other information could be released because this is an ongoing investigation. Meanwhile, a “Stop the Violence” Candlelight Vigil is being planned for tonight, Wednesday, Oct. 1 beginning at 7pm at the corner of Maxwell & Cedar Streets and proceeding to Court Square.
