Gillett EHC Meets in October The Gillett Extension Homemakers Club held its October meeting on Tuesday, October 21, at the home of Anita Trimble in Gillett. Nine members and two guests attended. Margie Hackney, club president, called the meeting to order. Rose Ella Smith read an inspirational message based on 1 Thessalonians 1:7 giving an example of getting along better with others. Trimble read the thought for the month: “Every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn tree,” by Emily Bronte. Smith presented the program on
Family Traditions because the Cultural Arts, Textiles, and Clothing Leader, Dorothy Faye Dixon, is now is northwest Arkansas with her daughter Ginny Baxter. The program explained what traditions are, giving examples of each, and then listed several holiday traditions that can help bring families together. Dorothy Connelly, secretary, called roll with the question, “Are you registered to vote?” Everyone present answered “yes.” The minutes from the September meeting and the treasurer’s report were both given and approved. Members discussed the club’s responsibilities for the EH Fall Council meeting on Wednesday, October 29, at the Community Room of PCCUA in DeWitt. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. with the program starting at 10
a.m. Gillett is one of the hostesses for the potluck event. Visitors are welcome. Hackney mentioned the helpful hint, a recipe for Buttermilk Sweet Potato Pie. Everyone enjoyed the delicious refreshments provided by Trimble. Smith won the door prize furnished by Trimble, and Becki Weinrich won the door prize brought by Jeannie Fletcher. Thelma Connelly, Debbie Daniels, Arlene Ferguson, and guests Dixie Turner and Anita Wolfe were also present. The meeting closed with the Homemaker’s Prayer. The November meeting will celebrate Veterans’ Day and Thanksgiving at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11, at The Paddy in Gillett for a Dutch treat lunch.
Crocketts Bluff, Ethel and St. Charles News By: Margaret Aycock 870-282- 8030, 870-723-5071, jaymara@hughes.net GREETINGS: Howdieeeeee!!!!! I’m so glad to be hereeeeee!!!!! Aren’t ya’ll??? WEST VISIT: Do you all remember last year when Barbara West said “I’m not going to do this again ever. I’m just too tired and old”. Well, guess what, folks! That tired and old lady came by this tired and old ladies house to let us know that she is going to do it again this year. If anyone would like to contribute money or toys, please contact Barbara, and she will smile big for you! CBCC MEETING: The Crockett’s Bluff Community Center held their October meeting Thursday, evening at 6:00 p.m. Their attendance at this meeting was quite low due to the farmers that were still in their fields trying to get their beans cut and stored before the weather gets too bad. For that, everyone can understand. Bro. Charles Floyd Jackson blessed the food. After everyone was through eating, we had a short business meeting. Since the holidays are the next two months, we
voted to have these meeting on the third Thursdays, instead of the 4th Thursdays. Our November/Thanksgiving meeting will be November 20th at 6:00 p.m. Our plans are incomplete at this time as to what all we will be doing for fun and games, but we do guarantee everybody will enjoy the food and fellowship. The same goes for the December/Christmas meeting. It is scheduled to be December 18th, with plans like November’s! Everyone, please mark your calendar for these two dates. Everyone needs some relaxation and fun this time of year. This is good, clean family fun. Enough said. Maybe too much. Gobble! Gobble! Gobble! Ho! Ho! Ho!
