County property tax to remain the same By RICHARD COOPER Democrat staff writer
LAMAR-The Barton County Commission has set the county property tax levy at $0.05 on each $100 of assessed valuation, the same as last year. In fact, the tax has been at that level since 1995. The tax is set after a state required rollback based on receipts from the county sales tax. Figures from the office of County Clerk Kristina Crockett show the sales tax produced $505,163 in 2012 and $525,253 in 2013. The assessed value for the entire county as of June 30 is $172,136,485.
