More than a thousand friends, family members and supporters crowded the Macon High School bleachers to send off the Missouri National Guardsmen of the 1438th Engineer Company on June 15, 2013 (pictured above), and now they have returned to the States! The Macon-based multi-role bridge company spent 10 months dismantling the numerous temporary, modular bridges built by the U.S. and British militaries throughout Operation Enduring Freedom. On the morning of May 9th, the 1438th Company touched down on American soil in Bangor, Maine just in time for the upcoming military holidays. A sincere Welcome Home from all of us!

Marianne Murphy to Retire After More Than 25 Years After more than two and half decades, the Bevier C-4 School District is saying goodbye to an outstanding teacher. Marianne Murphy has announced her retirement after more than 25 years of teaching. Marianne graduated from Truman State University in 1978 with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education. She continued her education in 1981 gaining a Masters in Counseling. Marianne began teaching at Bevier School in 1979. Although she has taught in many areas and age groups, most of her years were spent in middle school touching

the lives of her many students. Marianne resides in Bevier with her husband, George. They have a son Andrew and daughter-in-law Brianne. After retirement, Marianne plans on traveling, hunting, fishing, and substitute teaching. Marianne is also hoping to enjoy grandchildren someday very soon. The Bevier CTA would like to invite the public in celebrating Marianne’s many successful years in education to an open house at the Bevier School cafeteria on Saturday, May 17th from 2:00 to 4:00.
