What’s New for You in 2012?
2012 will be proven to be the year for new experiences to make their way to the Lewis County Fair, along with the return of events that we haven’t had for several years. In the Grandstand, the Midwest Cowboys Rodeo Company will put on a full –fledged rodeo on Wednesday, July 11th starting at 7:30 pm. They offer bull riding, barrel racing, bareback, mutton bust’n and much, much more. Local contestants are encouraged to enter and children age 3-6 can participate in sheep riding for free, information on how to enter the rodeo is in this fair publication. Speaking of bulls, the mechanical bull from the Buckin’ Bull Saloon will be making his appearance at the Lewis County Fair all four nights, weather permitting. An important part of fairs is fun and learning. We have added lots and brought back many educational
experiences for kids and adults alike. The Lewis County Farm Bureau will have My American Farm interactive ag educational games at their booth sponsored by the American Farm Bureau and Pioneer Seed. SCOPE, a grassroots Missouri organization, will be in the Commercial building on Saturday with handson science activities 10 am to 4 pm. Also in the Commercial building will be an agricultural education display that will have hands- on activities from the Illinois University Extension – Adams County. Come milk a cow and more. This display will be in the Commercial building Wed, Thurs, and Friday 3 pm – 9 pm and Saturday 10 am – 9 pm. Returning after many years are educational talks and safety demonstrations. Announcing Grandstand Events! The Grandstand will be home to 4 exciting nights of action. Returning back to the Lewis County Fair is the Rodeo. Midwest Cowboys Rodeo Company from Bowling Green, MO will be presenting a full rodeo on Wednesday night. They offer exciting opportunities for kids to participate along with local contestants. Motocross Races will be back in one night of excitement. Thursday night is the show to watch for the fast roaring, high flying quads and bikes. Promoter Nathan Bringer, owner of Outback MX Park outside of LaGrange will supervise the design and development of the track and run the races. The
excitement will begin with practice at 5:00 pm. The Demolition Derby promises to be another night of thrilling edge of your seat excitement. Track officials need the crowds’ help to count 5-4-32-1 on Friday evening, to start the cars crashing for the cash. Stock Cars, Modified Cars and Modified Compact cars will fill the arena with all the crashing and banging until only one is left. The smoke will start blowing at 7 pm when the Twin States Truck & Tractor Pull start down the track. Eleven classes of tractors and trucks will provide a night of exciting entertainment. Local trucks will pull after the main event.
Conservation Fishery Agent will be giving a presentation followed by a Snake presentation by Lewis County Conservation Agent, Brock McArdle. Both of these will be on the Home Ec stage. Friday evening in the horse arena, Lt. Don Cibert will put on a demonstration with his Drug Dog, Vitou. This is something that we feel is beneficial for any age and is pretty amazing to witness, so don’t miss it. Sgt. Brent Bernhardt of the Missouri Highway Patrol will have the Seatbelt Convincer on Main Street Friday evening. Come and experience for yourself the benefits of wearing your seatbelt. On Saturday come and visit Buckles the Bear from the Missouri Department of Transportation. Lewis County Farm Bureau and the Lewis County Fair Board will be giving away bicycle safety items or you may win a new bike. The Smokehouse will be on display on Saturday afternoon. Your children can practice fire safety in case of an emergency. Thank your local fire departments for putting on this display, it may well save your life. A fun event just for the Teens has been missing for the last several years and will be making its musical return on Saturday night. SADD will be sponsoring a Teen Dance in the All Purpose Pavilion from 8:30 pm to 11:30 pm. Music will be provided by Daniel Ray of Ewing to dance the night away. Come and see all the new and returning events at the Fair!
