Culver-Stockton College is ranked number 20 in the 2012 Washington Monthly Top College Rankings Baccalaureate College category. The magazine, out of this month, rated colleges based on their contribution to the public good based on three broad categories: social mobility, research and service. To determine rank, numeric values were placed on the three categories and all of their subcategories. All 1762 schools listed in the U. S. Department of Education’s Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System were elevated using the same scoring system, excluding the 145 schools where at least half of the undergraduate degrees were awarded to students were no bachelor’s degree and the five military academies. Washington Monthly’s goal in ranking the colleges was to provide consumers with information about what colleges were doing for the country. The baccalaureate category means that the majority of students at a school are working toward their bachelor’s degree. The college ranked number 1 in this category is Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina. For more information, please contact Heidi Lanier at 573-288-6312 or hlanier@culver.edu.
