CANTON PARKS BOARD TO HOLD MEETING The Canton Parks Board is seeking citizen input on how to develop a park at the property at Brose and Wyaconda Streets, near the Comfort Inn Motel. A meeting for the citizen input will be Tuesday, September 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the area of the property, where boundaries of the park will be discussed, as well as some current plans. In the event of rain, the meeting will be held at the Comfort Inn meeting room. For more information, call Canton City Hall at 573-288-4413.

Fire Chief Gunsauls said. “After sending all units back except La Grange, we noticed some smoke coming from the trees on the east side of the levee. We went to investigate and found about an acre of burning brush and trees. We could not reach the fire without crossing the levee and the levee is too high and wide to get a truck over it, so we

Heavy smoke can be seen from a fire that Canton Fire Department responded to on Route P, Canton on August 24. At about the same time, the LaGrange Fire Department was called to a cornfield fire, south of LaGrange. Residents are reminded that a burn ban is still in place in Lewis County.
LaGrange Fire Chief Henry Gunsauls reported that the LaGrange Fire Department was dispatched to a corn field fire about three miles east of Highway 61 off of 300th Street, south of LaGrange on Friday, August 24. This call came in a few minutes after Canton Fire department was dispatched for a fire on Route P. The fire consumed about 50 acres of standing corn just west of the levee. Palmyra fire department were one the first units on scene because they where dispatched by Marion County for the same call
