Bucklin Legion Holds Benefit For Lingo Couple

MACON COUNTY’S LARGEST EASTER EGG HUNT TO BE HELD APRIL 7 Macon County’s largest Easter egg hunt will be held at Church With Out Walls in Atlanta on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 11 A.M. for an Easter Egg Hunt. Children of all ages are invited to attend including teenagers and adults. The grand prize for the children’s division will be a bicycle. This free outreach event will also include a hot dog lunch for the children and families. There will be a division for teenagers including prizes like iTunes cards. An “adult division” will also take place: Parents and supporters of the younger hunters will be competing for two gas cards prizes. More than 5,000 eggs and goody bags will be scattered throughout the yard at 619 S. Williamson in Atlanta. Local teens and adults will assist with the event and pack eggs for the kids. Saturday morning, March 17, 2012, at the Bucklin Legion Hall, The American Legion Green Hills Post 57, Post 57 Ladies Auxiliary, and Squadron 57 Sons of the American Legion conducted a benefit breakfast for Rick and Sandy Foster, of Lingo Missouri. Sandy is in a nursing home and Rick is receiving treatment for cancer. Both are members of the Post 57 family. The community response for the benefit was overwhelming, with over 125 people attending. Post Commander Leighton Reid and Auxiliary President Wilma Jobson thanked the community participation and all who donated to the breakfast. A community bake sale was conducted during the breakfast, with all proceeds going to the Fosters. JUDGE PHILIP PREWITT DECLARES CANDIDACY FOR CIRCUIT JUDGE Macon County Associate Circuit Judge Philip Prewitt (R) has declared his candidacy for Circuit Judge of the 41st Judicial Circuit. The Circuit is composed of Macon and Shelby counties. “For the first time in 12 years voters can choose who they want as their Circuit Judge,” said Philip Prewitt. “I am proud to have the opportunity to serve the citizens of Macon and Shelby counties as a fair and impartial judge.” Born and raised in north Missouri, Philip lives in Macon with his wife, Stephanie, and their two children. Prewitt practiced law as a civilian and military lawyer for over 18 years before

being elected as a judge of Macon County. He had his own law firm for 12 years, serving clients in a variety of legal fields. “I am excited to bring my extensive legal and business experience to the position of Circuit Judge, where I will continue to work hard and faithfully follow the law,” said Prewitt. Philip earned his undergraduate and law degrees from Washington University in St. Louis. He is a former Commissioner of the Missouri Veterans Commission and is active in the Macon United Methodist Church, the Rotary and Kiwanis clubs, and the Masonic Lodge.
