DeWitt Hospital Celebrates 50 Years

The DeWitt City Council will return back to it’s regular schedule December 9 at 6 p.m.
AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY
The American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary will have their annual Christmas potluck supper on December 5, 2013. It will be held at Camp Doughboy and will start at 6:30 p.m. The meat will be furnished by the Legion. Please bring your favorite dish and join us. We will be taking up items to be taken to the Veteran’s Hospitals in Little Rock and North Little Rock. Things they have requested are: puzzles, books, underwear, t-shirts, coffee, socks, just to mention a few.
REDEEMED COGIC
The Redeemed COGIC located at 1110 S. Jefferson St. in DeWitt will be having a special service on Sunday, December 8. The guest evangelist will be David Anderson, pastor of St. Luke COGIC in Elaine, AR. Helena-West Helena District (Stuttgart District Evangelist). Everyone is invited to come and be blessed. Lunch will be served.

Virginia’s Favorite Recipes is a collection of recipes compiled by Virginia Koenig Parker, lifelong resident of Arkansas County. Many recipes were prepared at Virginia’s Cafe in Bayou Meto. Pick up a copy, Friday, December 6 from 3-6 p.m. at the Bayou Meto Methodist Church HWY 276 in Bayou Meto.

It’s time for those Christmas carols to be sung. Come celebrate with us on December 14, 2013, at 5:30 p.m. at Lodge Corner United Methodist Church, in the fellowship hall, with George Crumbly pastor of Humphrey United Methodist Church. We will be bringing the carols of Christmas! Located half way between Stuttgart and DeWitt on Hwy 165.

DeWitt Hospital celebrated its 50th Year Anniversary on Monday, December 2, 2013, by hosting an open house event. The DeWitt Hospital & Nursing Home Auxiliary members served snacks and gave tours of the Christmas decorations throughout the day. At 5 p.m. a reception was held to recognized Warren Jennings, Sr. for his years of service on the DeWitt Hospital and Nursing Home Board of Directors. Darren Caldwell presented a plaque to Warren Jennings, Sr. who retired from the DHNH Board of Directors this year. Warren Jennings, Sr. had served 22 years on the Board of Directors of which at least 17 were as Board Chairman. DeWitt Hospital held a contest for a logo design to be used on a tee shirt to celebrate its 50th Anniversary. Cassie Edwards design was picked out of about 50 entries. Tee Shirts were made us-
ing her design and are being used as a fundraiser event for the Hospital’s Children’s Fund. Cassie received $50 and a tee shirt with her design. Tee shirts are on sale for $15 at the hospital and all proceeds benefit the Hospital’s Children’s Fund. DeWitt Hospital would like to thank everyone who took the time to participate in the contest. The Hospital’s Children’s Fund was first started in the late 1990’s by hospital employees. Various fundraisers are held Cassie Edwards and Darren Caldwell with Cassie’s winning t-shirt throughout the year and design. proceeds are used to purchase Christmas presents for Children in the community. Because of the need clothing or other necessities are being purchased throughout the year for Children in need as well. The funds are also used to purchase a Christmas present every year for each of the nursing home residents as well. 10TH ANNUAL BARBARA WEST TOY DRIVE
The 10th Annual Toy Drive will be held December 21 at Young Insurance Agency, 123 S. Main St in DeWitt. The hours are 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Parents/guardians MUST bring the children (ages 11 and under) to pick up toys. For more information call 870-946-4400.
