With visitors from all over the state, the Arkansas County Bicentennial was a huge success. Visitors were able to learn the history of various places in Arkansas County, as well as view historical documents from the vaults. A documentary called “On Solid Ground: The River Rats of Arkansas directed by Melanie Masino was shown throughout the day, and much history was learned. People were dressed in timeperiod costumes to represent the various styles of clothing worn throughout the 200 years of Arkansas County’s history, and a contest was held for the best costume. Children from all county’s elementary schools were asked to submit art for a contest and winners were selected. Cake was cut, proclamations were made and everyone had a grand time.
