6th Annual Winter Flea Market & Soup Luncheon
On Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, the Friends For La Plata Preservation will sponsor their annual flea market and soup luncheon. Again this year, the event will be held in the Silver Rails Event Center at 204 East Moore St. in La Plata. The event opens at 8:00 a.m. and will continue until 3:00 p.m. The show will feature over 30 booths, and admission is free for all shoppers. The FLPP members will operate a concession stand featuring homemade vegetable soup, sandwiches and cookies, throughout the day. The Friends For La Plata Preservation will use the proceeds from this Flea Market to continue renovations on the Green Theatre and Annex.
A very emotional exhibit, “Remembering Our Fallen,” is a stark reminder of the ultimate sacrifice made by over 140 Missourians killed in The War on Terror while wearing our country’s uniform in a war zone. The photo display, which includes pictures of each of Missouri’s Fallen, will be traveling throughout Missouri and will be coming to the Macon Public Library, for display January 21-30, 2014. There is no admission charge. The exhibit is open to the public, during the regular hours of the Macon Public Library (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 10 AM to 8 PM. Wednesday 10 AM to 5 PM, and Saturday 10 AM to 3 PM). The Library is located at the corner of Rutherford and Butler Streets in Macon.
“Remembering Our Fallen,” is a state-based touring photo display honoring Missouri military members who have died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, since September 11, 2001. en” traveling exhibit is being brought to Macon and hosted by American Legion Post 29, Legion Auxiliary Unit 29, and the Macon Public Library, with financial support also provided by Macon-Atlanta State Bank, Hughes Welding Service, the Macon Jaycees,

The Macon County Town and County Fair is a great place to see animals, watch livestock shows, look at projects made by 4-H, FFA, Girl Scouts and Jr. Cattlemen’s.
