The Volunteer Spirit

Jordan & Tatum Watkins Bevier, MO

Macon Health Care Center is blessed to have so many wonderful volunteers in the community. Clark Dobbs is devoted to leading Bible Study on Thursday mornings. But Clark has another talent that the center was very excited to learn about. Clark has a love for all trains. He agreed to set up a display for the residents and share his many stories about how he acquired his collection. He grew up around trains and has shared his enthusiasm with his son, grandchildren and many people in the area. Our next demonstration was shared by Scott Schnell. Scott is seen in the facility several times a week. He has a hidden talent of wood carving. He started this around 50 years ago. He said he often carved projects while waiting in the Airport as he traveled a lot for his job. He also shared a story about how he loves to listen to football on TV and sit in his chair and carve. He demonstrated carving an owl while he shared his stories. The center always welcomes volunteers to share their time and talent with the Residents. Please, come out and allow us to share our home with you!
