Dilbert Biswell, La Plata, MO US REP. SAM GRAVES TO VISIT ADAIR COUNTY Congressman Sam Graves (RTarkio) will visit Adair County on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 from 11:15 to noon at “Jackson Country Connection,” a local pumpkin patch and corn maze. The public is invited to meet the congressman as he makes a farm tour through his new district. Bob and Andy Jackson, owners, will serve as hosts for the event. Graves is the current United States Congressman for Missouri’s Sixth Congressional District. Twelve new counties including Adair have been added to his current area, which includes 36 counties in the northern part of the state, from the Kansas to Illinois border. Graves, a farmer, received more than 80% of the vote in the August 7 primary for his re-election. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Small Business Committee. The Congressman also serves on the Transportation Committee and is one of only a handful of farmers in Congress. LA PLATA EMERGENCY GENERATORS TESTING
ROLLOVER AT ATLANTA JUNCTION
Starting on Monday, August 13th the city of La Plata began conducting emergency generator testing and commissioning. The testing will continue throughout the week during daylight hours. Testing guidelines require the generators to run several hours with a range of power outputs. Electrical power interruptions are not expected, but there is always the potential for random periods of brief power outages. On Tuesday evening, August 7, 2012 a two vehicle accident occured at the North junction of Atlanta, Highway 63 and Highway M. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by Ethan Baker, 17 of Atlanta was westbound and failed to yield to a 2002 Saturn L100, driven by Ebeney Magruder, age 33 of Macon, headed southbound on 63. Baker struck Magruder, went off the right side of the road. Magruder went off the right side of the roadway, stuck a sign and overturned. Both vehicles were totaled and both drivers were transported to Samaritan Hospital in Macon, Missouri. Baker with minor injuries and Magruder with moderate injuries. The MSHP was assisted by the Macon County Sheriff’s Office, Atlanta Fire Department and Atlanta First Responders.
