The bus wheels will begin rolling again in just a few days in the DeWitt School District. Teachers will report for professional development on August 12 and students will not be far behind. School will officially begin for students on August 18, 2014.

AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY MEETING
The Grand Prairie Center in Stuttgart hosted the 2014 Arkansas Rice Expo Friday, August 1st. This year’s event drew over a 1000 people with lots of free goodies and fun activities for the kids and lots of information on rice production in our area. The day started at 8:00 a.m. with registration, then at 8:30 field and virtual tours began which featured Rice Breeding Updates, Weed Control Technologies, Irrigation and Insect Management, N-Star Program
Open House for all schools in the district will be held on Thursday, August 14 from 5-7 pm at each school. Parents are encouraged to attend, meet the teachers and staff and pick up useful information for the coming year.
The American Legion Auxiliary will meet at the Willow’s, August 7th at 5:30 pm. Everyone is encouraged to attend.
ALUMNI GIRLS SOFTBALL GAME
Get ready for Coach Peek’s 2nd Alumni Girls Softball Game. It will be held onFriday, August 8, at 6:30 pm. The “oldies” have waited a year for this rematch! All proceeds benefit Romania Missions. Hope to see you at the ballfield.

Tiffany Aaron, of Cleburne county, won the $200.00 prize in the Rice Expo recipe contest, with Alice May Johnson
from Arkansas county, making it into the top five. Miss Arkansas County Rice, Lizzy Bronson, along with other county winners, served the crowd samples of their winning recipes. A Farmers Market Tent was a new addition to this year’s Rice Expo, with fresh vegetables, baked goods, and hand made items from local vendors.
