PRESS-NEWS JOURNAL NEW LOCATION The Press-News Journal will soon move to their new location at 409 Jefferson Street in LaGrange in the former Presbyterian Church building. The building has been completely restored. The newspaper office will be located in the lower level of the building. The first date of operation in LaGrange will be April 1. More details and a history of the historic church building will be featured in upcoming editions.

HES KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION Highland Elementary - Lewis Co, C-1 will have a Parent Orientation meeting Thursday, March 7 at 6:30p.m. for next years 2013-2014 Kindergarten parents. C-S HOSTING TWOPART MILITARY DOCUMENTARY SERIES Due to weather conditions, Culver-Stockton College is rescheduling the screening of “The Invisible War.” The documentary was originally slated to be viewed Monday, Feb. 25, and is now rescheduled for Monday, March 11 at 7 p.m. The showing will still take place in the Merillat Recital Hall, located in the Robert W. Brown Performing Arts Center. The screening is cosponsored by American Association of University Women (AAUW)Canton Chapter and C-SC history department. This event is free and open to the public.

Lewis County boys basketball teams, the Canton Tigers and the Highland Cougars, each won their respective district tournaments and advance in state competition. Both teams were scheduled to play Feb. 27, weather permitting.

PHEASANTS FOREVER HOLDS BANQUET Rita Cox Editor rita1@lewispnj.com The tenth annual Ten Rivers Pheasants Forever Chapter Membership Banquet was held on Feb. 23 at the Caldwell Building in Canton with over 300 people attending. The mission statement for Pheasants Forever states Pheasants Forever is dedicated to the conservation of pheasants, quail, and other wildlife through habitat improvements, public awareness, education and land management policies and programs. The local chapter takes pride in the fact that all money raised in Lewis County stays in the county. The dedicated support and donations received translate into quality wildlife habitat and effective conservation and youth education efforts. A portion of the money raised goes towards helping landowners establish wildlife food plots on their properties which results in many acres of wildlife food and cover needed for wildlife to survive the winter. They

Over 300 people attended the banquet held Saturday evening and enjoyed a steak dinner cooked by Keith Cary and Mike Sparrow Sr. Local Lewis County 4-H Shooting Sport members helped served the meal. Auctioneers donating their services were Lindy Hamlin and Gary Fagan. Many businesses and individuals donated prizes and

their services to make the event very successful. A variety of games were held with chances to win various prizes. Pheasants Forever is a nonprofit conservation organization founded in 1982 in response to the continuing decline of the ring-necked pheasant population.
