Pottery and basketry are part of Cultural Heritage of wine. Pottery was used from the beginning of its history, in Chile mainly by the Mapuche people, to prepare clay jars and jugs. Wine pourers were originally used as a vessel to bring the wine to the table to serve it from an amphora or barrel, and be easily poured. Meanwhile, enormous wicker lined bottles of wine called “Chuicas” or “Damajuanas”, which have been in Chile since colonial times. They are initially made of ceramic, but lined with a wicker basket to protect them from possible damage in handling or transport.
