Come la persona e lo spazio possono interagire nel modo più facile, efficiente ed economico: questo è il concetto di Nomos.

Nel design di auto, di barche e di aerei lo spazio è vissuto effettivamente come un fatto tridimensionale.

Nomos adotta un approccio di questo tipo. Non solo i piani di lavoro o di appoggio sono regolabili in verticale e in orizzontale, ma viene conquistato all'uso corrente lo spazio che "sta sopra". Esso, che di solito è considerato inesistente, è in realtà un ideale contenitore di oggetti e di funzioni.

Più attività sono così integrate in uno spazio ridotto.

Nomos ha anche un approccio radicalmente nuovo verso i cablaggi, i servizi e l'illuminazione. I cavi 1 corrono in una "spina dorsale" flessibile a graffa che può essere raddoppiata - o anche abolita - a seconda delle necessità: sempre, e solo, l'indispensabile..

The concept of Nomos is based on the relationship between the user and the space he occupies - how these can interact in more pleasurable, effective and economie ways. In the design of cars, boats and aircraft it is taken for granted that space is utilised in a three dimensionai way. Nomos adopts a similar approach to integrate more activities into less space. Work surfaces can be adjusted for slope and height and the space over them, normally wasted, is used for Storage.

Nomos takes a radically new approach to wiring, services and lighting by providing a clip-on flexible spine into which cables can be easily notched. If the wiring demands are minimal then the spines can be deleted of if they are particularly heavy then several spines can run together. You never have to acquire more than the minimum that y o u need at any one time. Nomos is in effect an inventory of precision components which can be combined with panels of diverse materials such as composites, glass, stone and fibres, to offer a wide palette of possibilities.

T h r o u g h a process of selection there is the potential to create total environments for groups of varying size, self sufficient even to the extent of providing built-in task and background lighting.

The inventory itself is not fixed and finite but will evolve over time. A range of seating, free standing Storage and screens are al ready early priorities.

Nomos naìt des concepts fondamentaux de personne et d'espace.

Dans le design des voitures, des bateaux et des avions on donne pour sur que l'espace soit utilisé de fagon tridimensionnelle.

Nomos adopte une approche de ce type pour intégrer plusieurs activités dans un espace plus réduit. Les surfaces de travail sont réglables verticalement et horizontalement et l'espace au-dessus de celles-ci qui d'habitude est perdu.

Nomos a une approche radicalement nouvelle pour les càblages, les services et l'éclairage, puisqu'il est prèvu un listel flexible à agrafe dans lequel on peut facilement inserer le cable et qui peut ètre doublé, à l'occurrence, ou mème supprimé.

Nomos est, en effet, un ensemble d'éléments de précision qui peuvent ètre couplés à des panneaux de matériaux divers (bois, verre, pierre, fibres ...) pour offrir une vaste gamme de possibilités.

Avec un procédé de sélection on peut créer des espaces complets pour des groupes d'importance variable, autosuffisants au point de fournir plusieurs fonctions déjà incorporées et un éclairage de fond. Ce mème ensemble n'est pas fixe et immobile mais évolue dans le temps. Sont prévues d'ores et déjà des séries de chaises, de supports verticaux 'libres' pour emmagasinage, des écrans ...

Nomos ist eigentlich eine Serie von Pràzisionsbauteilen, die mit Platten aus verschiedenen Materialien, wie Verbundplatten, Glas-, Stein- und Faserplatten kombiniert eine Vielzahl von Mòglichkeiten bieten.

Bei entsprechender Auswahl der Einzelteile und Materialien besteht die Móglichkeit, ganze Raumeinrichtungen unterschiedlicher Gròsse zu gestalten, die derart unabhàngig sind, dass sie direkt auf eine bestimmte Funktion "zugeschnitten" und mit Hintergrundlicht versehen sind. Die eigentliche Serie ist nicht feststehend und abgeschlossen, sondern wird sich im Laute der Zeit weiterentwickeln.

Vorrangig werden binnen kurzem eine Reihe von Sitzgelegenheiten, freistehenden Regalen und Platten entwickelt werden.

Non abbiamo, nelle nostre lingue levigate da secoli di giurisprudenza, un termine così ricco da indicare insieme l'ordine e la spontaneità, il rigore e la fantasia, la regola e la creatività. Perciò Tecno e Foster Associates hanno evocato per il loro lavoro questa parola antica.

Nomos.

'Nomos reigns over everything' (Hesiod, Theogony, 66).

Nomos is the Greek word meaning law, but it also means rhythm, the beat or measure in music. It was the broad meaning of the word, encapsulating as it does ideas of control and creativity that attracted Tecno and Norman Foster to Nomos as a name for this new range of furniture. Nomos is based on freedom within rules - rules which are based on the ergonomics of the human trame, standing or sitting, the rapidly changing communication technology and the servicing it requires.

Nomos est loi: rythme que le monde impose à sa propre complexité, mesure qui nait de l'immanence des choses.

Nomos n'est pas un système abstrait de prescriptions mais plutòt le moment qui donne naissance à la norme: la reconnaissance d'une nécessité qui devient projet.

Mais Nomos est aussi rythme musical, mélodie.

Nous ne possédons pas, dans nos langues polies par des siècles de jurisprudence, un terme tellement riche pour indiquer à la fois l'ordre et la spontanéité, la rigueur et la fantasie, la règie et la créativité. Pour cela Tecno et Foster Associates ont évoqué pour leur travail ce mot ancien.

In unseren Sprachen, die abgenutzt sind durch Jahrhunderte von Rechtsprechung, haben wir keinen so umfangreichen Ausdruck, um die Ordnung und die Naturlichkeit, die Strenge und die Fantasie, die Regel und die Sohòpfungskraft gemeinsam zu erfassen. Deswegen hat Tecno und Foster Associates fur seine Arbeit dieses antike Wort benutzt.

Qualsiasi superficie parallela al suolo a circa settanta centimetri può essere decorata di generi alimentari. In tal caso questo piano - sia esso in cristallo, legno, metallo, marmo o plastica - diviene immediatamente un oggetto liturgico: in parte una mensa sacra dove si celebrano solide o effimere fraternità; in parte un altare dove animali e frutti della terra vengono sacrificati al culto della Specie Umana.

Nomos is a flexible system which can create a table for every type of activity; it can provide an infinite range of positions from vertical, high and sloping to low and fiat.

It can be used to create elegant dining tables with surface finishes in glass, wood, metal, marble or plastic.

Toute surface parallèle au sol à environ soixante-dix centimètres peut ètre décorée de produits alimentaires. Dans ce cas ce pian - qu'il soit en verre, en bois, en métal, en marbré ou en plastique - devient immédiatement un objet liturgique: un peu table sacrée autour de laquelle se célèbrent de durables ou éphé'mères fraternités, un peu autel sur le quel animaux et fruits de la terre sont sacrifiés au eulte de l'Espèce Humaine.

A Nomos table may be built up using a number of different leg configurations and the table top can be set at different heights. It can become a coffee table which creates the ideal centre for a more informai meeting or as a display surface for products, flowers, books or unusual objects.

Nomos can expand horizontally as well as adjust vertically. It can grow to suit the requirements of the board room table which has become one of the symbols of corporate power and decision making Nomos can accommodate a variety of surface finishes to suit particular requirements. With different finishes, the architecture of Nomos maintains its own character and looks right in a wide variety of environments.

Il arrive à certains éléments architectoniques de subir des translations institutionnelles: la porte, le divan, le palais, le siège deviennent sacrés, saints, éminents, sublimes et s'écrivent avec les initiales en majuscule. La Table a toutes les qualités pour confluer dans cette architecture rhétorique.

Nomos is designed to cope easily with the demands of the machine intensive workplace - and with the growth of paper which goes hand in hand with the spread of electronic communications.

From the diagonal to vertical, the Nomos can be adjusted to provide an upright display surface that can be used for presentations as support for a flip chart or as a fixed display system. This is a new approach to such a product, maximising its use and avoiding the need for purchasing separate items.

Molto giustamente la prima macchina da proiezione veniva chiamata 'lanterna magica': il fatto che l'incantesimo sia ripetibile a piacimento non toglie nulla al sapore di meraviglioso che ognuno avverte appena, su una superficie bianca, appaiano i paesaggi delle vacanze, i diagrammi dell'Ufficio Vendite o anche soltanto furtive ombre cinesi.

The end of leg fitting allows easy adjustment of the height of the table. Casters are available for use where mobility is important and a wide variety of shapes of surface tops are possible.

L'immaginario collettivo si avvia a vivere con emozione i luoghi e gli strumenti del Terziario Avanzato.

Nell'estate vivaldiana il contadino arava sotto il sole di Van Gogh mormorando versi di Virgilio. Il marinaio nella tempesta esitava tra la 'Pastorale' e 'Singing in the rain', con un occhio a Shakespeare e uno a Giorgione. Alla catena di montaggio si sorrideva di Charlie Chaplin e il capoturno era perduto in una fantasia di Fritz Lang.

Adesso entrando in ufficio l'impiegato scruta all'orizzonte dell'open space la vela nera di Isotta. Horowitz trae accordi dalla tastiera del computer mentre i Tre Moschiettieri si riuniscono in videoconferenza.

Infatti, 'la vita è sogno'.

Working patterns are changing; fewer and fewer executives spend ali their time at their desks; research has found that workers do not want to spend their days looking at a blank wall, but want to have a view - in some jobs it is vital that ali those in the office are in easy visual contact.

Offices must be able to change easily and quickly. Tecno's brief was that Nomos can be installed easily, that a secretary can replace a terminal without tools; it must be possible for, say, a bank to be able to change the layout of its offices overnight something that would generally be impossible in a system that requires the intervention of the manufacturer to carry out alterations.

Nomos is designed for change, it is designed as a high performance system that operates as well as a simple, sculptural table as it does an integrated system for an office environment complete with uplighters and controllable task lights.

Horowitz entlockt der Tastatur des Computers Akkorde, wàhrend die drei Musketiere sich zu einer Videokonferenz zusammenfinden.
