59 SIAPI was established in 1992 to provide high quality technical solutions in the stretch blow molding machine market for various types of bottles and containers in PET. From the beginning, the company has wanted to set itself apart with excellent products by focusing on technological and process innovation. This has made them a worldwide leader in new market segments with more than 400 installations in the world. Their main goal is to work together with customers, which helps them maintain their competitive advantage in the market: this is why SIAPI offers a complete solution that addresses all aspects of the application and that is completely developed at their sole manufacturing site in San Vendemiano (Treviso) in Italy, where each step of the project is carefully supervised and certified. The company has always invested many resources in its Research and Development team, which is able to transform experience into technology and demand into a concrete response, using a systematic analysis, development and control method and involving the various areas of the company. The final result makes it possible to create customized, flexible and functional applications and linear stretch blow molding machines that have a simple design yet are extremely advanced from a technological point of view, completely electric, easy to use and designed to guarantee maximum energy efficiency. By focusing on quality, constant innovation and quick responses, SIAPI is able to meet the needs of its partners and customers and can set itself apart in the various food & beverage sectors, in projects for converting from GLASS, HDPE or other materials to PET, as well as in all other markets that are searching for and need to offer new solutions. SIAPI operates in five different market segments: Standard, Wide Mouth, Heat Set, Specials and Extra Large. For more than 10 years, SIAPI has been a market leader in the large format sector. The blow molding machines for the Extra Large applications can be adapted to all applications that must be converted from Polycarbonate and HDPE to PET, therefore not only for beverages but also for chemicals.
For these types of applications, SIAPI has developed the EA2S blow molding machine, with a SUPERFLEXIBLE version that has a stretch unit for blowing with 5-3 or 2 cavities to create 5, 10 or 30 l formats, respectively, by simply switching the mold and selecting the correct software configurations on the screen. Also for this strategic sector, a new three cavity machine, EA3S, will be launched by June, which can reach productivity levels of 1500 bph with a 20 l container and 390 g preforms. Once again, SIAPI has demonstrated to be the first and only company in the world able to obtain certain results. The range of blow molding machines for Standard applications includes a line of machines with 2 to 16 cavities with productivity levels that can reach 24,000 bph, whereas Wide Mouth technology is applied to the linear blow molding series EAWM with 1-2-3-4 cavities for containers with a mouth diameter up to 180 mm and 12 l capacity. The blow molders used for Standard and Wide Mouth applications can be combined with Heat Set technology to create hot filling containers in PET. The special application segment includes a series of technological innovations, such as preferential heating for asymmetric and oval bottles, the inclusion of molded handles in the bottle and the possibility to implement blow molding machines that automatically insert the handle in the mold. SIAPI’s patented HandleMatic System can be configured for blow molding machines for Extra Large containers as well as for Wide Mouth containers. SIAPI’s offer also includes a customer support service that ranges from the development of the container design, the preform and the resulting application validation to a prototyping phase, if necessary, and numerous laboratory tests, such as: Top Load measurements, material distribution, thicknesses, bursting test, implosion, Hot Filling and many others. SIAPI has an international presence with a wide-spread and efficient sales and support network, with a team of specialized technicians and spare parts warehouses in order to help their partners develop their business.

53 Pietribiasi Michelangelo was established between the end 1960 and the beginning of the next decade, thanks to the commitment, drive and entrepreneurial flair of Michelangelo Pietribiasi. This happy and well-intuited idea by Michelangelo Pietribiasi was not only the driving force behind his new business venture, which, among other things, was established just as market demand, and hence consumer demand, was undergoing a period of strong growth but also allowed the company to find a specific market niche through the high quality and functional systems product range offered. The rapid economical growth which Italy underwent in this period determined the subsequent expansion of the company which was able to respond to the increasingly pressing needs of both the small, family-run, “hand-made” dairy as well as to those of the medium-sized companies and large-sized multinationals. Today the Pietribasi name is among the more well-known in the dairy sector and the company is internationally acknowledged, particularly in the realisation of “turn-key” projects, and in the specific processing sectors, such as production of cheeses, pasteurisation and packaging ones. Looking more closely at the company’s product ranges. The Pietribiasi division covers the research, project design and supply of complete systems for the process of milk (HTST – HHTST – ESL – UHT) cream – fermented products from milk process (yoghurts in the various known versions, sour cream, Smetana, kefir, leben, etc.), fresh soft cheeses, as well semi and hard cheeses, “pasta filata-pizza cheese”
(such as mozzarella, kashkaval, etc.) and other products processed from cow – sheep and goat milks. In this field the company has a wide experience and can cover all equipment needs from small to bigger plants for the production of: pasteurized drinking milk, yoghurt, different kinds of cheese, butter, etc. Automatic vertical filling machines for liquids and cheese like “mozzarella” and others; UHT plants; automations; turnkey complete projects; know-how and engineering. Moreover, it designs and produces plate and tubular heat exchanger for pasteurization and thermal treatment (cooling and/or heating) of different liquid foods (milk, cream, ice-cream mix, fruit juice, eggs mixture, beer, wine and many others). These kinds of plants are “tailor-made” and designed according to customer’s specific demands. The company is also renowned and appreciated for following products: Batch pasteurizers; discontinuous cream pasteurizers; butter churns (available in a wide range of models from 20 L to 3000 L total capacity); semiautomatic butter forming machines; automatic forming/ wrapping/sealing machines for butter bricks. Its fifty-year experience in the food-stuff field, its long lasting cooperation with many European organisations and companies, the specialised knowledge in these processing fields, equipment and technologies, skilled level of staff operating in Pietribiasi, a flexible and friendly management and lead of company by ownership, are the powerful basis of the success of Michelangelo Pietribiasi company.

45 Although Makro Labelling is not yet very well-known, it has already stood out on the labelling market due to its products. Owing to thirty-year experience of its partners, gained in this sector, Makro can guarantee reliable and efficient machines and services. The company can offer a comprehensive range of labelling machines that ranges from the classic cold-glue applications to the innovative self-adhesive machines. These two labelling systems can be easily combined with each other and integrated in one single machine. Besides, hot-melt applications cannot be missed: paper and pre-cut plastic wrapping labels can in fact be applied on PET or glass containers. Makro Labelling engineers have developed labelling machines in order to offer an innovative product able to improve both quality and performances. Hence, Makro has therefore focused on the following three fundamental principles: modularity, flexibility and practicality. These concepts have been developed after careful and accurate technical and commercial research, which has enabled and will enable Makro products to be on the cuttingedge of worldwide labelling market. All the models offered by Makro Labelling, from the smallest to the biggest, feature some basic elements in common: stainless steel Aisi 304 basement structure, “roof” table, transmission to the stars and scrolls by brushless motors, niploy treatments for the components that are not made in stainless steel. Many other customizations need mentioning as they give the machines sturdiness and long life. Makro range of labelling machines includes the small Mak0 and Mak-1 featuring a carousel of 520 mm’s diameter in
aluminium alloy which is then coated with a double-layer epoxy varnish. The machines can be broadly used in small-sized businesses with no particular packaging requirements but requiring levels of excellent quality. Mak-0 and Mak-1 can be equipped with mechanic plate rotation or step-by-step motors, but 4, 6, 8 plate optical centring can be installed upon request. 43 Lita has gone a long way since it installed the first machinery in 1962 and today it specialises in the palletisation of packaged products. Lita’s main goal is to offer the widest range of highquality palletising and depalletising systems, designed to achieve the best efficiency for any requirement. Relying upon the experience acquired in nearly 50 years of hard work, LITA is particularly attentive to customers’ requirements as to be on the market with ever innovative solutions. Reliability, versatility and endurance have always been the top features of the LITA machines, to guarantee suitable solutions and reliable results for any installation. The variety of palletizing machines available is definitely comprehensive, starting from the compact mini robot suitable for small capacity and small rooms, through a broad range of models for medium outputs, and right to high-speed machines usually employed in the large-scale beverage distribution chain. The company’s highly qualified technical staff is always committed to giving products utmost quality and to applying the most advanced technologies, keeping price always competitive. Manpower optimization and lead-time are the recipe to hit the fixed target. In an environment where manpower is the predominant part of production expenses, it is essential that the machine design and development stages have a prime role in production cycles. The company is organized in such a way as to carry out all production phases; it is in fact equipped with CAD/CAM systems to carry out design and tests, but it is also supported by outside co-operators for some production phases. Differently, design is only from the company’s internal technical staff and entirely managed in 3D. The company machines can easily find application in the beverage sector, where LITA has been since its early days, as well as in the food, chemicals, cosmetics and pharmaceutics sectors. Since the seventies, LITA has numbered important companies of the Northern and Centre of Italy among its customers, such as Bacardi Martini, which cast LITA in the international panorama. From time to time, the company exports overseas, to the States and to the South America. Thanks to a cooperation with local dealers, LITA has long been present all over Europe, where its plants work on the premises of internationally renowned customers, in France and in the United Kingdom in particular. Lately, LITA has also penetrated into the Eastern European and African markets with tens of plants installed in just a few years. Presently 80% turnover is for foreign markets and the company is highly satisfied with its unstopping growth.
CASE HISTORY Naubahar Bottling Company (PEPSI) – Gujranwala Pakistan LITA has recently supplied this important customer with a palletizer mod. ECO3 with wrapper, for a production line of carbonated beverages in PET bottles for capacity of 20,000 bottle/hour. The design results from a cooperation between the English company CBL, which carried out the overall redevelopment of the line. The machine is composed of an empty pallet cabinet, pallet conveyor for automatic pallet change, and interlayer pad inerter between layers. Downstream, the line has also been equipped with a wrapper with a rotary arm as to stabilize the load of the finished pallet with extensible film. Both machines have been adjusted to work pallets of 1500 x 900 mm, usually operating at the customer’s facilities. (Pic. 1) Canan Kozmetik (L’OREAL) – Istanbul - Turchia World leader of production of cosmetics and personal care products Canan Kozmetik has decided to automate the end of line of the 3 main lines of its Turkish production facilities. For this important investment, Canan Kozmetik has again banked on LITA, one of L’Oreal group preference suppliers. LITA supplied three Cartesian-axis palletizing robots JOLLY provided with empty pallet cabinet and pallet conveyor for automatic pallet change, which can also be handled with manual transpallet. The mechanical parts are entirely in aluminium, combined with accurate linear sliding on guides which makes the system highly flexible, quick and accurate. The machines are equipped with a gripping device as to handle boxes of up to 20 kg. The feeding system has been designed to perform the robot gripping in single, double or multiple ways. Maison Bouey – Ambares – France Lita has recently installed a palletizer Presto 2 provided with an innovative laying system that rules out classic separators, at Maison Bouey, Ambares, France. In facilitating the programming of new palletizing schemes, this system guarantees increased machine flexibility, which is already very well-known thanks to automatic regulations at any change of format of packs and pallets. In addition to this, any LITA machine is also set to programme new formats and this special feature makes programming itself ever simpler and therefore enables the user to meet the market requirements promptly. The palletizing group consists of a box overturning device (commonly used at Franca for the delivery of bottles with neck down) and a rotating overturning board as to stabilize the load of finished pallets wrapped in extensible film. 33 Fimer has established itself on the home and international markets thanks to its production of machinery for industrial bottling destined to the wine-making, liquor, food (drinks, mineral waters, beers, sauces) and chemical sectors. The company was established in 1970 to produce mainly fall filling machines for the oenology sector, but also to developed technology for other market fields. Mr. Bruno Mogliotti, company’s founder and present owner, started his own company backing not only on his experience of specialized technician but also on his knowledge of the requirements of the local wine making and producing firms. Thanks to the close cooperation with his family, sales and technical departments, today he runs a company of about sixty people that produces machinery and plants exported all over the world (80%). The analysis of customer’s requirements during the custom design and manufacture stages is the company’s strongest point. Fimer machinery are greatly appreciated and chosen on account of their being carefully realized down to the finest details, their possibility to be customized according to the customer’s requirements, their great reliability, costeffectiveness and low-cost maintenance. They offer highquality technology, state-of-the-art solutions, and a limited production: Fall and high-vacuum (for dense and viscous liquids) filling machines, volumetric machines (to assure the exact quantity of product inside a container), isobaric machines (for gas liquids in particular), capping machines, special machines and monoblocs. Any machine is in stainless steel 304, welded with other steel alloys and plastics that can come into contact with foodstuff, to ease cleaning and sterilization operations. Noiseless and antifriction gears, easy access and manoeuvrability, valves for any need, etc., characterize the name Fimer. Professionalism, expertise and prompt intervention are the features of the company’s after-sales service. In the era of rationalisation driven by production, the company Fimer has focussed on “monoblocs”, which are
multifunction machines that execute the preliminary rinsing and deaeration, as well as the traditional filling operations, in a single production plant. They can perform rinsing, filling and capping (cork closures, aluminium screw closures, mushroom and T”-like closures, pressure plastic closures, crown closures, plastic screw prethreaded closures), as well as deareation for products like wine that do not mind oxidation. Such machines offer great compactness, synchronism between all mechanics, flexibility and cost-effectiveness, thus solving perfectly well the problems of the most demanding bottlers and due to diverse production requirements, also on a small scale. Isobaric filling machines are the most recent news from Fimer. Thanks to the efforts of the company’s technical department and the involvement of economic resources in prototype design and manufacture, the isobaric filling machines are now designed and manufactures entirely in house. In addition to big and sophisticated high-capacity machines, Fimer also produces a new monobloc of the Series SRT (Rinsing, Filling, Capping) meant for small producers of wine, liquors and oil just due to its limited throughput (1,500 bottle/h). This is the first monobloc put on the domestic market to apply capsules, labels and rear labels. The synchronisms enable to adjust the rinsing, filling and capping speed as well as any optional operation in one single performance. A control board for all controls. Compact and essential, small sized, the monobloc can adjust to the requirements of any company, to the containers of different size and material (from glass to PET) and different closure and labelling systems. 25 FBF Italia has designed and manufactured since 1987, high pressure homogenizers, positive displacement pumps, laboratory homogenizers, dosing systems and, thanks to the wide experience gained in this field, is now a key pointof-reference for plants manufacturers, suppliers of turnkey equipment and end-users in the food, chemical and pharmaceutical sectors. On-going innovation, exacting experimentation of special materials, strict quality controls and endurance tests allow FBF Italia to guarantee maximum performance, durability, reliability and safety; its mission is to offer to all its customers not only excellent sale services but also continuous relationship with constant, direct post-sale technical assistance; the target is to keep friendly relationship built on mutual evolution and innovation. FBF Italia’s machines are suitable to process a lot of products and can be inserted into complete process/ production, both in sanitary and aseptic design. The main utilization fields of the company machineries are: • dairy industries (milk, cream, cheese, yoghurt, caseinates, proteins, soya milk, etc.); • ice-cream industries; • food, processing, preserving and beverage industries (fruit juices, tomato sauces, oil, ketchup, eggs, vegetable greases, emulsions, concentrates, baby food, etc.); • cosmetic, pharmaceutical, chemical and petrol-chemical industries (starch, cellulose, wax, colorants, beauty creams, tooth paste, detergents, disinfectants, emulsions, inks, latex, lotions, emulsifiers oils, pigments, proteins, resins, vitamins, etc.). But what about the homogenizing principle? In order to permanently mix one or more substances in a liquid, a homogenizer must be used in such a way as to make it possible to micronize and disperse the suspended particles in the fluid, rendering it highly stable even during successive treatments and storage. The product reaches the homogenizing valve at a low speed and at high pressure. As it passes through the valve, it is subject to various forces that cause the micronization of the particles: violent acceleration followed by immediate deceleration causes cavitation with explosion of the
globules, intense turbulence together with high-frequency vibrations, impact deriving from the laminar passage between the homogenizing valve surfaces and consequent collision with impact ring. Homogenization can occur with the use of a single stage homogenizing valve (suitable for dispersion treatment), or double stage homogenizing valve (recommended for use with emulsions and for viscosity control when requested). FBF Italia’s range of machines can be commonly classified as follows: • high pressure homogenizers: The homogenizer is often necessary to mix one or more substances within a liquid. This machine allows micronizing and scattering the particles suspended in the fluid, so that the product becomes highly stable, no matter the followings treatments and storage the product may undergo. The “Millennium Series” homogenizers are manufactured according to the UE directives and are available with capacity ranging from 50 up to 50.000 litres/hour; according to the products to be processed, the requested pressure may vary up to 2.000 bars (29.000 psi) • positive displacement pumps: these pumps are used to transfer the products from a storage system or process one to a further part of the plant at a high pressure. These machines are commonly used for feeding of spray driers, tomato paste plants, osmosis plants, etc. • laboratory homogenizers: manufactured to replicate the same homogenization conditions that can be expected in a real production process these machines offer the possibility to execute tests up to very high pressure (1500 bar) and do not need of any other device to work. Easy to use and to move, with the highest reliability, is the best choice for keeping the production always under control. • positive displacement pumps for product containing particles: these pumps are mainly used for product containing particles with a max. sizes of 15x15x15 mm such as tomato cubes, vegetable or fruit pieces. The construction of such a machine is much the same as the homogenizers, except for the compression head which is equipped with special pneumatically controlled valve groups.
