WEST VIRGINIA 8-12; 0-6 BIG 12

TEXAS TECH TAKES FIRST TRIP TO WEST VIRGINIA SATURDAY Texas Tech travels to Morgantown, W.Va. this weekend to face the West Virginia Mountaineers for the first time as Big 12 members Saturday afternoon. First serve is slated for 12 p.m. CT at the WVU Coliseum. INSIDE THE WEST VIRGINIA SERIES Texas Tech and West Virginia will be meeting for just the third time in school history and the first as Big 12 Conference members after the Mountaineers joined the league last July. The Red Raiders are 2-0 all-time against West Virginia as the two teams have not met since Sept. 22, 1995, when Tech took a 3-1 victory in Morgantown. Tech also swept the Mountaineers in straight sets on Sept. 19, 1985, in the first meeting between the two schools that was held at the Eastern Kentucky Classic.

PLAYER TO WATCH #10 Freshman EMILY EHRLE Outside Hitter

Crowley, Texas

Crowley H.S.

Emily Ehrle comes into this weekend having led the Red Raiders in kills over the last two matches against No. 22 Iowa State and Baylor. The freshman connected on 10 kills against the Cyclones to go along with a .242 hitting percentage as she totaled just two errors off 33 attacks. Ehrle followed the performance with 12 kills Wednesday night at Baylor, marking her season high during Big 12 play so far. The Crowley, Texas native also took 46 attempts against the Bears, her second-most swings this year. With five more kills, Ehrle will become the sixth Tech freshman since 2000 to total at least 200 in a season, joining Kelly Johnson (2001), Kiley Lyons (2003), Amy Gandy (2004), Amanda Dowdy (2008), and Breeann David (2011).
